A Wonderful Book for Tin Whistle Hymn Players
I love this book. It has a wide selection of my favorite hymns that include: Abide With Me, All Creatures of our God and King, Be Thou my Vision, Come Ye Sinners Poor and Needy, For the Beauty of the Earth, God of Mercy and Compassion, Holy God we Praise Thy Name, I Cannot Tell, I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say, Infant Holy, Lead us Heavenly Father Lead Us, Nearer my God to Thee, Now Thank we all Our God, O Breathe on Me O Breath of God, O Come all Ye Faithful, O Come Divine Messiah, O Come O Come Emmanuel, O Worship the King, Silent Night, Spirit Seeking Light and Beauty, The Lord’s my Shepherd, There's a Wideness in God's Mercy, To Do Your Will, Unto us a Boy is Born, and What Wondrous Love. There is at least one hymn for each season of the church. Each tune comes with a short history, traditional music notation, ABC notation, and the words to the hymn. The only thing missing is tin whistle tablature but that can easily be created by copying the ABC notation into an online ABC converter web site. The pages are full size and the print is large enough to be easily read. The authors also included tips and advice on playing well in church. The music is simple enough that just about any novice can play it well. Advanced whistlers will likely want to add some ornamentation to the published music.I hope that there is a volume 2 published in the future. If so. I'll buy it when it becomes available.

Nice.
Nice book. I gave it 4 stars because I would like more tunes like "Unless a Grain of Wheat" and "The Servant Song".

Music does not use tin whistle tablature
The book is nicely presented with hymns that go with specific holidays. It is written in G cleff right hand piano notes not tin whistle tablature. You have to know which holes on the tin whistle correspond to the note you are reading on the music. It was not a problem for me because I read piano music and I know the corresponding hole to cover on the tin whistle to make that note. In that respect I was a little disappointed because it is a lot easier to have the diagram showing which holes need to be covered. With that being said, I have enjoyed the book and used it to entertain others.

A Wonderful Little Book
The songs are beautiful and the book is wonderfully made in including much more than just the hymns.Excellent for a newer whistler!

Not many popular hymns
The lack of tablatures isn't an issue for me but the lack of popular hymns is. Perhaps the hymns Mary Murphy chose are popular to her, but this book is seriously lacking in the really popular hymns such as, "Amazing Grace", "The Old Rugged Cross", "Come Thou Fount", "How Great Thou Art", etc. The lack of these, and many other, world renowned hymns is a real disappointment. I will be returning this book and keep looking for another one.

notes
It does not show the Tin Whistle fingering for the notes. It doesn't explain their hand positioning of the notes on the music.

Buy it!! Fantastic.
I think it is absolutely fantastic that the author provided abc notion and musical score in the key of D. With not much effort you can port the ABC notation into tools EasyABC and Musescore. *as the author mentions in her forward. I was able to have both tools playing the first hymn in under 15 minutes. I find musescore very helpful in learning a new tune. The book is not designed for someone who needs whistle tabs. I find note names more helpful anyway. If you do need whistle tabs; search on Michael Eskin's ABC tools you can find an online tool to take your ABC notation and make note names or whistle tabs. the old mandolin link does not work. I gave it 4 stars because 1. you cannot directly copy and past the ABC notation out of kindle. 2. I do not know yet how many hymns do not have the words.
