Designer Cross Stitch Projects: Over 100 Colorful and Contemporary Patterns (Design Originals)

This book has to many interesting and original charts, I hardly know which one to make first. There are projects large and small, and includes suggestions about how to stitch quick, small projects based on elements of the larger designs. The charts are in color, which makes them very easy to follow. The passport holder, retro VW van, a lovely spray of peacock feathers, things for guys, kids, etc. This is the most interesting chart book I have seen in years. The first chapter is titled Fun to Stitch, and that applies to the whole book.

I love the patterns in this book. They are easy to read and don't use a lot of complicated stitches. I was really excited to get started on making the bag that's on the cover of the book. I've only been cross stitching for about 6 months and have always used Aida fabrics. That was the main thing I liked about this craft, Aida fabric is usually around five bucks and thread is under one so it doesn't cost a fortune to make something beautiful. Imagine my surprise when I tried to buy the materials needed for the bag and the linen fabric and thread alone came to almost fifty dollars! That doesn't include the backing fabric needed. After flipping through the other patterns, I found that most of them use expensive materials. I may be able to adjust the patterns to use Aida fabric but they won't turn out the same. So I've just bought a book full of beautiful patterns that I most likely won't be able to use.

She found this book at the library and had to own it. The makes lots of projects for friends and family. The cell phone/camera cozy, and the covered buttons are some of my favorites. There's enough to keep you busy a long time in this book, all beautiful, I love the butterfly myself and would like one for my room. hint, hint

It is contemporary only if your in the 1970s. The only patterns i felt worth while was the blue butterfly and the peacocks feather. Everything else was 70s. I was very disappointed.

Love it. I have peacock decor in my bathroom and am crossstitching one pattern now. Really pretty book. Will use it alot

It's a nice high quality book with clear diagrams and pictures, problem is I don't really want to make any of the specific projects in the book. Wish I could have leafed through it before buying.

I was disappointed to find that all of the projects in the book are taken from back issues of crosssticher magazine which I already own. The book is will presented and would make a nice present for someone who does not already have these patterns.

There are so many great patterns in this book. The feather on the cover is just the beginning. My favourites are definitely the camera, the Space Invaders/Pacman icons, Scrabble Tiles font, and the VW Bus. I've just added so much to my "to stitch" pile, thanks to this book!
