I like the biographical information sprinkled with many large illustrations.

I bought this book because I love Sargent's paintings and wanted to know more about him and his works. This book is a good resource and I really enjoy reading and studying it.

Susie Hodge does a most wonderful job of unfolding the view into Sargent's paintings. They are beautiful, refreshing, and brilliant. World War moves history from a classical portraiture into a traveling industry from impressionism to modernism, an underlying demonstration of what we bring from the past: History.Sargent does it.Thanks, Amazon.

Hands down, best book getting to know Sargent on a budget. Lots of nice illustrations, colorful and many rare. Author did good job writing the important points and details to his life. I luve the chronological order his life is put throughout. This is all done on nice quality stock paper. I have a few books on Sargent this is the one I come back to for reference.Only tidbit I didn't give 5 stars was some paintings colour reproduction is off. Gives a garish look of what they might appear like. But only about a few. I have the Pre-Ralphelite book by same publisher. Its terrible in comparison to Sargents. The whole book is practically reddish-orange in picture reproduction.
