Great new product for me
The Faber Castell gell sticks are amazing. The colors are so bright and the sticks are easy for my hands to hold. I enjoy painting and these gel sticks make it a lot easier. I really like the fact that you can draw on canvas and then add a spritz of water to get a water color effect. My daughter enjoys stamping and she has found that these gel sticks are great for stamps as well. Just rub the get stick on the stamp and spritz with water to get the stamp effect. This is a great new product for me, My only caution is that when you do draw, be careful not to rub the picture. These gel sticks are like pastels and will rub off if you are not careful.

Blends beautifully with water after appkying to page.
When I first pulled the gel stick acriss the paper, it appkied similarly to crayon, thouh it is much softer. Then I finger blended, and there was *some* merging of colors. Then I wet my finger tip (multuple times) to finger blend. It was like an explosion of creaminess in both texture (feel during use) and color blending. I really like them. Took pics but can't seem to upload. Will try again later.

Oooh Pretty!
I was curious to see how this might differ from Gelatos, which I also love. It's my understanding that the main difference is these, which are intended for children, are NOT permanent. I am currently using them on some embossed Christmas cards I'm making, rubbing silver, green or yellow (which looks gold) lightly over the embossed area & smearing with fingers. I'm using a dark green card stock & it looks awesome! Washed easily off my hands, and since I'm not too concerned about my Christmas cards being "permanent," these are perfect. And you could always use some sort of fixative if you wanted to use it on a more permanent project, like a canvas or in an art journal. I like them!

Gorgeous colors, easy to work with, beautiful effects.
Metallic gelatos (or "gels," many quibble if they are the same, they work like the gelattos for me, and lightfastness has not proved to be an issue), an absolute favorite.I'll chime in on the glowing reviews. Love the colors, love the effects, love the way they glide on.And they last forever. I've been an enthusiastic user of this set for many months, and I have tons left. The gold will be the first to go, and I'll simply replace it with the gold/silver duo kit.The finishes you can create with these are absolutely stunning, if not mesmerizing, then just continue working with it.Water soluble, vibrant, shimmer that never disappoints. For the price of a couple of S**rbucks lattes.

These are a fun medium for random creative projects
These are a fun medium for random creative projects. I wanted to start experimenting in my journaling, and I make my own cards and paper crafts, but didn't want to invest a huge amount of money...and I'm glad I didn't. While they're fun and the colors are vibrant, I'm not really in love with them yet. If you use it dry, on dry paper, then add water to it with a brush or your finger, the lines don't blend away without risk of adding too much water and degrading the paper. I've watched tutorials and it looks like they'll be better if I were to gesso the paper before, but I don't know if that's a step I'd take just for my journal - maybe for my cards. While I'll use them just for my own silly stuff, I wouldn't repurchase. I also got a lovely full set of Staedtler Karat Aquarell crayons and I like those better.

Faber gel sticks
LOVE THESE! These are amazing; you can watercolor with them, and use dry and blend them like pastels. The consistency is a little harder than lipstick. They blend beautifully! I use them to color in stamped images, and for artwork and to add shimmer on top of markered images. I even combined these with water and put them in Tim Holtz/Ranger Mini Mister bottles and made my own shimmery mists in the colors I wanted. Similar mists are $5 and up each! There are many tutorials on YouTube if you want more information. These have become so popular with crafters I could not find them for a good price anywhere else except Amazon. This is not considered artist grade but I think they are good enough and are wonderful.I recommend you also buy the 12 count non - metallic gel sticks.

Awesome
These gel sticks are awesome! They are gelato's I have used both gelato's and gel sticks and to be totally honest I like the gel sticks better they have a lighter smoother spread. In a side by side test you can not tell the difference. Gel Sticks just have the Faber-Castell logo on the side, Gelato's have both the FC and Gelato's logo, Gelato's have the color printed on the top of the stick. gel sticks don't. The only downside to gel sticks is they don't have as many colors as gelato's. Gel sticks only have the primary colors and metalics. Gelato's has (I believe) 28 colors + metallics. Seventeen dollars for 18 colors -vs- between fifty and one hundred for gelatos. No contest in my book.
