I switched to crushed oyster shells as these stink to high heaven but they do work very well. If you're not put off by the fishy smell, these are worth it.

Here in FL we have a real issue with root knot nematodes. They can kill or badly stunt trees, plants, vegs etc I mix this in my backfil or garden beds each time. As it breaks down it repels or kills nematodes. Now it wont work if they are already in the roots but if you use it when plantin g it will sure help. Scratch it into your tree drip area a couple times year too, on the trees that nematodes hurt, such as fig or barbadoes cherry. This comes in plastic bags. I buy screw top half gallon plastic containers at the dollar store and store it in those with the name written on top. Easier to use later and stays vital.

I am using this product to supplement my chickens' daily diet. With 30% Calcium,it makes supplementing a little easier. Not to mention the trace minerals abundant in Crabshells,it beats off-the-shelf oyster shell supplement by being already finer ground. This may not be an economical way to supplement a flock of more than a few;it serves my purpose well. The taste is slightly salty,but if plant roots can benefit, I am sure my floofy critters can,too. Mixed with grit,it can be made available all day. I have not noticed any odor while using this product. Next year,before the garden starts to emerge,I will be adding some of this product to my fertilizer fermentation tub for bio-active calcium readily available for my crops and ornamental. Overall,no complaints with 5his brand of Crabshell.
