This isn't really CAT5e cable
I purchased the cable with the intention of cutting it into a couple of smaller lengths and crimping on my own UTP ends - essentially I wanted a small amount of white CAT5e cabling for use in the home. White looks better when fixed to the top of the skirting board. This cable isn't actually marked as CAT5e on the cable. The printed markings claim UTP 5E Standard cable 26 AWG. The CAT5e standard for networking mandates the use of cables that conform to another standard, TIA/EIA-568. That standard requires that the conductors in the cable be in the range 22 to 24 AWG.Clearly this is not CAT5e cable, in name, or in material fact. Those 26AWG conductors are very thin - too thin. When crimping normal UTP connectors on the end the conductors are so thin that it's difficult to get a good connection. It WAS possible, but on of my ends needed crimping 8 times before I could get a good connection. So, for those of you wanting a long patch cable - it might well work if you don't try any DIY - but it isn't CAT5e cable and at 40m I would prefer better conductors. For those of you wanting to cut and slice the cable for your own needs - go elsewhere.

Thin, poorly-shielded cheap cable. Does not meet CAT5e standard at all.
This cable works, that's about the only good thing I can say about it. It was the cheapest 50M cable on Amazon so I guess I deserved what I got, but sheesh! I think I'll spend the extra £2 next time. The shielding is so thin you can feel all the individual strands inside the cable moving around as you unroll it. it's that horrible, stretchy rubbery stuff that bunches up when you coil it, and looks a bit like a snake shedding its skin or something.I have it hooked up between my router and a PC which both have gigabit network ports, and it gets about 200-300 megabit between them. Not the best. You should be easily able to get 800-900mbit from a 50M length of CAT5e. It's only a media PC, so I don't really need the full speed, but it's very annoying to be limited by your ethernet cable!

Good value for fixed, indoor use
As other reviewers have commented, this is a lightweight cable. I would not use it outdoors or for portable applications where it is constantly rolled and unrolled. It is fine for putting in place once and leaving. Care should be taken not to kink it when unrolling it. It does not come on a drum, but should be unROLLed as if it were (put your arm through the coil), not just dropped off the side as it will then twist and kink.I do not have the means to test the maximum bandwith, but it works well between a computer and router on 35Mbps Vodafone fibre broadband. I use it for HD video streaming and am very pleased with it. I now get the full 35Mbps broadband speed (measured with an online app) all the time, which was not the always the case over WiFi.The answers to the questions on clip size are incorrect, even from the supplier! The cable diameter is 4.6 mm (I measured with a digital micrometer at various points). The best clips to use are therefore 4mm. These will give a gentle grip and therefore the neatest mounting as the cable can be slightly tensioned, keeping it straight. 5mm clips look OK but do not grip the cable. 6mm are much too big. Put the clip on the cable before banging the nail in to ensure you do not pinch the insulation. You need a clip every 20-30 cm, a few more at corners. A pack of 100 was plenty for 20m.

Great, great value and no problems
Moving from a powerline adaptor to a wireless network card, my internet wasnt the best, fairly slow but just usable. i was getting round about 25-36 mb/s download before. After an hour installing the cable through the roof, i tested my internet again and nearly tripled my speed to 85mb/s- remarkable.older cat 5 cabled have 1gb/s internet one way guaranteed and with cat5e, you have 2 way 1gb/s guarantee meaning you will be transferring files through your house faster than a lot of hard drives or ssd's can read. When wiring, make sure to cover and protect the ends.Overall, i never spent much but i found the performance and quality to be perfect and i had no disputes to solve as it was new and runs at full capacity.

What excellent value!
Couldn't believe the price for 50m. All strands are standard thickness however, the cable is nice and slim, making it easy to feed through walls and floors.Easy enough to splice new connectors on making multiple cables from this length. Have set up 2 cables running under the floors of the house and, one to the loft, should I wish to add an Extender or drop Ethernet cable into one of the bedrooms at some point. For those feeding through walls, a 10mm masonry bit is sufficient to feed 2 strands, whilst accommodating rods.

It works!
Arrived in good time. Needed this for PS4 updates as the console is in the attic and the router is in the lounge. Wifi speeds to the PS4 were coming out at several kbps (yes, kbps!) so updates were literally taking days. Connected this through the lounge, up two flights of stairs and to the other end of the attic where the PS4 is. 50 Gig file updated in around 30 minutes as opposed to 4-5 days over wifi!! Result! Can't use this as a permanent fixture, obviously as it's trailing down the stairs! But as a hard wire connection it has proved invaluable. Had doubts about a 30m cable being able to transfer data over such a distance, but it works fine.

Standard CAT5e all good
There's nothing I can really be critical about being a standard unshielded twisted pair CAT5e Ethernet cable. I bought this to connect some network attached storage and other machines on one Gigabit switch to another downstairs for sharing media to multiple devices. Being CAT5e it supports speeds up to a Gigabit and that seems to be enough throughput for my needs. The cable is flexible and and the sheath is enough to protect the odd bump or nip. Like other cables I wouldn't run it under anything that gets squashed a lot or you'll end up with issues. The connectors are the standard plastic moulded ones nothing out of the ordinary it would be nice to have a rubber protector over the small plastic arm to stop possible breakage but it's not a biggie and by the pictures you can easily see what your getting anyway. For the price it's good value.
