Mice are so dangerous. Not only famous for carrying Lyme ticks & Lyme disease, you can also catch hantavirus pulmonary syndrome when you come in contact with mouse feces, urine or saliva. This rare disease can cause death if not treated early on. I have found these traps to work the best when stuff a little peanut butter inside the little cubby hole in the yellow plastic. Then place it perpendicular to the wall (NOT parallel). You want the bar to be coming town towards the wall, not parallel to the way as mice run along the walls and you want them reaching over and pushing down on the yellow. I constantly catch mice in these!

These mouse traps from Victor worked perfectly. It came as 2 two packs = 4 traps. Helpful tips: keep your scent off of it by rubbing peanut butter on your hands before handling. Use a small smear on the bait pad. All four traps worked. Tried to reorder exact same order, but it's not available. I think this is a good brand for these traps and the seller delivered!

I would give the Victor traps 5 stars except that in a full case there will be a couple that you simply can't set because the tripwire is just a micrometer too short. The majority however, are quick and easy to set and extremely effective. I've tried every kind of mouse control on the market for my barns and have by far the greatest success with plain old-fashioned Victor snap traps.I have now used a case of these Victor snap traps, and a case of Tomcat brand snap traps. Do yourself a favor and buy the Victor. Some bean counter at Tomcat must have decided to save money by using a cheaper smaller diameter wire for the coil spring, and also making the spring shorter than what is used in these Victor traps. The much stronger Victor spring makes them reliable snap traps. In contrast, the Tomcat weak spring results in mice actually escaping from under the spring. Also in mice being caught but not killed and then you find them and have to deal with that. I want the mice dead, I don't want to torture them to death. If that doesn't bother you, consider that the live mice caught in the trap are able to drag themselves and the trap long distances into unseen and unknown hiding places where they eventually die and rot and stink, and THEN you find them.

I have used Victor mouse traps for 75 years. Reviewers complained about the quality of Victor traps; so I bought two of each type of Victor mouse trap to see if they were still made as well as the old ones that I have used for years. I bought two taps of this type, which looked similar to an old one I still use with success. Both these traps arrived and they looked like the one I had, but looks were deceiving. I baited each one and tried to set them, but they kept triggering off before I could even set them on the floor. I tried to set each one many times, but I could not get either trap to stay set for more than a few seconds before it would trigger off. A close examination revealed that the trigger mechanism is never going to work because the trap itself and the trigger mechanism are not properly made. My old one has worked reliably for years, but these new traps are poorly made. It is not worth my time to return this junk to Amazon; so into the trashcan they go. I also bought two of Victors other type mouse trap, which is the type I first used in the late 1940's. Of those two traps one worked and caught a mouse. The other trap went off the first night and the entire trap mechanism blew apart but the lucky mouse got away safely. Thus out of 4 Victor mouse traps purchased, I got one that works and the garbage man will get the other three. Too bad Victor can't make a reliable mouse trap like they did decades ago. I guess the Victor company has sacrificed quality to make a cheap product that the consumer has to throw away. I am sure the Victor company does not suffer losing the business of this very old man, but perhaps you younger folks can learn from my experience and save your money. It is sad to see American manufacturing quality decline to the level of Chinese made junk!

The mouse trap is the most patented invention in history. There is a reason they still make these centuries later. The negative reviews due to seller issues or user error should be ignored.Watch a YouTube tutorial. Bait (a little peanut butter in the bait cup is my go to) and position properly, and you'll catch mice. Look at my pictures provided for baiting and placement. No poison around your family or dead mice in your walls. Cheap enough to throw out if cleaning a catch makes you squeamish, but built well enough to reuse again and again.They are simply designed and results in fewer functionality failures (i.e. dead batteries or broken parts). Victor makes these to the highest standard and they feel superior in material and function to other brands of the same model.I prefer the EZ-set paddles versus the traditional copper trigger. The holding bar can be "tuned" to increase or decrease sensitivity of the trigger (note some versions have "F" and "S" on paddle for firm and sensitive). Also, I often catch mice just running across the perimeter of the walls, not just when they are eating the bait. Still #1 in humane mouse eradication.
