This is a go-to paper for me. I love working in charcoal and this has an excellent tooth, which is valuable in three ways. 1. It can hold a large build-up of charcoal for getting extremely deep, dark shadows. 2. It can stand a lot of reworking and erasing without showing any damage or unwanted texture in the final work. That's hard with charcoal. 3. It can handle a lot of blending and rubbing without loosing its texture and ability to hold charcoal. I go through this pretty quickly. It's a favorite. This is the one most commonly recommended by teachers I've studied under, justifiably so. As one teacher said, you don't want to fight the materials. If you give 100% effort to a material that can only give you 85%, you'll only get 85% results. Go with quality. This is going to give you 100%.

The paper has a nice texture, holds the charcoal well and its not thin. I do other art and have a ton of paper and its not true that you can use any paper for charcoal. Im will buy again

My daughter does a lot of charcoal art pieces. And she loves it. Definitely at the end spray lightly with spray for pencil and charcoal so it does not smear.

It works well for charcoal or pencil.
