My unit has never read anything other than zero. even when placing right at my exhaust pipe. it must be faulty. can i get a replacement?

Funny, both of my devices also show zero when I check the CO level.

will this stand alone and work or does it need to be attached to mounting bracket to work ?

Instructions say it gets turned on when placed in the mounting bracket. Unit arrives turned off.

At what level ppm (parts per million) does this detect carbon monoxide and sound an alarm and how long does it have to detect it to trigger the alarm?

The best way to test the questionable device would be to place the item in a large zip lock back to seal exhaust fumes from your vehicle inside the bag !before the tailpipe has gotten hot! to avoid melting the bag, of course. I value my health and my family’s health, so I want to know if the level is anything above 0ppm so I can be proactive about finding and fixing the problem before it is too late. Rather than an “alarm” which offers minimal protection, you may want to look at what protection a “low level monitor” can provide for you. Basically, if an alarm beeps, that indicates the level has become high enough for so long that you may already have high levels in your blood and may need to leave your home immediately even if you are in your night gown, depending on the accuracy, and most importantly the time frame before the device will even beep. It will only beep if a certain time has elapsed at high levels. If the device sounded sooner than the designed time delay, the device would be considered “faulty” even if it offered better protection. This means even after a beep, you could already have been exposed to high levels of CO depending on the product design. A low level monitor can have much better resolution, and much lower ppm audibles at levels like 9ppm which is considered by most to be the lowest “healthy” allowable 8 hour exposure level. Researching and testing is the only way you will ever know the truth. Have your own standards; Don’t just except other’s standards as your own.

My old unit was chirping every 8 hrs or so. Purchased a new unit and its chirping every 4 hrs or so. Registering a constant 0. What is happening?

Its a normal reading. All you have to do is reset it and it should not chirp any more.

This is a brand I trust.I use it in my home and have never had an issue with malfunction.When my old battery-powered C02 detectors died out I replaced them with these.I appreciate the 10-year battery life. Makes the hassle of trying to remember what was replaced annually. My husband lost his sense of smell for the most part and I want to make sure that all of the detectors, smoke or otherwise, work.Easy to install, smaller design. Just remember to check the instructions regarding placement and label the date you installed it for easy reference.

Low battery after 3 weeks of use!

10/‘22 - I’m upgrading my review because I contacted the company and they helped find a replacement CO detector that had a replaceable battery - the 10 year battery that failed on the previous model was not replaceable. They sent the replacement free of charge. My complaints: 1. why it didn’t have the quality control testing before it was sent out 2. They didn’t want it returned so now I have to tear it apart to dispose of it properly (lithium battery).Original review:I received this Kiddie CO detector model C310-D 7/19/22, turned it on 8/8/22 and today 9/2/22 it faulted and screen showed Lb (low battery). The 10 year battery lasted not quite one month!It Beeped for about a half hour and you can’t replace the battery 😡, so I turned it upside down to quiet the beeping, then after about 5 minutes, I realized it wasn’t beeping - so looked at its screen, now no Lb fault on screen, yellow fault light was off and it acted perfectly fine. Except NOW I CANT TRUST IT TO WORK.We wanted this for intermittent use when camping - but there’s no off switch. I would have never bought it if I’d realized it didn’t have an off switch since that the battery could not be replaced. And - It was a pain to install as the screw holes didn’t match the previous product. Of course it’s past the return window by 2 weeks.BUYER BE WARE, maybe it’ll work and maybe not. And when it doesn’t work, it’s just another piece of plastic trash if the manufacturer won’t return it.
