Nice little read
Needed more depth. Was more of a report than a book. Gave us a very loose look at her accomplishments.

Three Stars
Not as good as her products.

It is just ok
It's ok. It does not give much personal information nor insights from Joy's perspective. It reads like a high school paper outlining Joy's business activities with emphasis on her earlier years. It is not a well rounded picture nor a "how to" book for current times. I like Joy & her products so I was interested in reading this.

Disappointing reading!
I was very disappointed. I wanted the book to go in more in depth about her hardship that she endured being a single mother. Her process of going through the steps of patenting the products she designed.

Insubstantial and strangely unexciting
This reads less like a biography and more like a chronological catalogue of Joy Mangano's inventions. There's almost no biographical substance here; this is somewhat forgivable as Mangano may be very private and facts about her life may be unknown. However, there's very little detail about her public life either. What about her first appearance on HSN? What about milestones in her career as a TV personality? You'd think a well-researched book would mention these. There's also very little information about the development of her products. Each entry simplifies the creative journey to the point that it almost seems like she was following instructions, which is patently (pun intended) NOT true. Her journey through the prototyping and development process is made to appear so painless as to be almost inevitable and foreordained.Pretty disappointing, as Joy Mangano seems like a fascinating woman and a brilliant inventor, but this book barely scratches the surface.
