Nice Design, Nice Construction, Great Seller
I'm very new to Tenkara but...if you can fly cast without touching your line or your reel, then you can cast with a Tenkara rod. I found info online which led me to the Teton because, like my conventional fly rods, this one is approximately Medium Fast action. I like the finish and it's a very easy set up and take down. One piece of advice that I live by is to clean and dry the rod after each trip.Do so and you can expect this rod to last. In short, it's nice design and nice construction. And the Seller (Avidmax) is excellent to deal with. I'll be dealing with them again!

again we were disappointed! After reading the other reviews
The product was very disappointing. I was very excited to receive the tenkara rod but when it came, again we were disappointed! After reading the other reviews, I decided to order this product, but we were very disappointed with the shipment of the product. There was no line included. The lid on the container for the rod was damaged. And the silkscreen on the tube is also beginning to wear. I will not be purchasing again from the Tenkara Rod Co. Although Tenkara USA is more expensive, I think that we will switch to them as their products seem superior. I guess we'll have to see now.

Caught a bunch of trout with this on my first try
Caught a bunch of trout with this on my first try. I used one of the flies it came with (rather than my typical "match the hatch" flies) the entire time and had success. I was fishing within 30 feet of the shore of a large lake (Lost Lake, in Hood River, Oregon) during the evening. I know this may be better suited for streams/smaller rivers, but it was kind of nice how simply the rod was to pull out into it's full length all from float tube. Normally I have to construct my fly rod from the shore before getting in the water.

Returned?
Seems as though mine was returned prior to shipping to me. Has minor defects in finish of the rod at the top of many of the larger telescoping sections and the line is a tangled mess that I don't know if I'll be able to undo. Can be fixed by ordering new line but shouldn't have to deal with that for $160 new. Defects are cosmetic and don't bother me as much.

A good introductory/entry level rod,
Well.... Tenkara style fishing is great and this rod is a good introduction to it, it comes with everything you need to start fishing.Pros:Lightweight and simple, seems pretty durable (took it backpacking through the Michigan UP. Actually caught a couple trout with the flies it came with. Whole system is pretty intuitive and easy to get the hang of.Cons:Last telescoping section of the rod became permanently stuck after first use, so I couldn't collapse it all the way in. Method for storing the line and tippet on the wood wheel is cumbersome and isn't as intuitive as the rest of the set up. In my opinion it doesn't lend itself well to backpacking. The rod case seems unusually large for the rod and you need to take the line off in order to put it in.Be careful putting the wood spool in your pockets while fishing, mine floated out and was gone before I knew it.

Best Rod ever
this is the first time i have used a Tankara Rob and it is wonderful. so simple to use and out fishes the regular fly rod. I will always use this rod when you have the right conditions. Small lake or stream that are the best and no tangle or loosing fly's.

One Star
I used this rod twice and it broke. Not strong enough.

Awesome Customer Service (Tenkara Rod Co.)
My daughter's Teton, but I broke it. Snapped the lilian off right at the tip. Called Tenkara Rod Co customer service for warranty service and they sent a replacement section as soon it was back in stock. Love the rod and very flexible in usage - swing flies and euro-style nymphing and dead drift nymphing. -- Much more convenient than my traditional fly gear. There are numerous rod makers out there, but the best ones back up their gear. Tenkara Rod Co is one of the best ones. Thanks.
