I can tell RC had a deep relationship with God here on earth, and he is having a great time with Jesus in heaven! Funny, deep, impactful. RC will make you ponder the depths of God’s grace, mercy, power, presence, and more then he will make you laugh at his past experiences or you will identify with his pain and past struggles. Check this book out. If you’re a pastor, it makes for a great sermon series. Review: This book will deepen your love for God - This is one of the best books I've ever read. Dr. Sproul teaches about the essence of God's character--about Who God is. He addresses the nature of holiness, and in exploring that attribute of God, he brings the reader to his knees in reverence and humility. The book is beautifully written, easy to understand, and yet, it is rich and deep. The teaching is accessible to new believers and still full of wisdom for the mature reader. I've given away over 100 copies of this book in the years since I first read it. I do think it's a modern classic.

He leaves a legacy of fine books, excellent preaching and deep reformed theological insight
R.C. Sproul has just died. He leaves a legacy of fine books, excellent preaching and deep reformed theological insight. We will miss his excellent ministry, and this book is one of his finest. It presents all too forgotten truths in a world obsessed with materialism and the surface of things. God’s holiness is paramount, and he contends that unless our lives are centered on God’s holiness, they have little meaning. Sproul’s breadth of application and depth of insight are astounding. This book is a life changer, if taken seriously.

A Modern Classic in Reformed Devotional Literature
The Holiness of God by R.C. Sproul is a classic in Reformed devotional literature. I would heartily recommend this work to all thoughtful Christians who are pursuing the glory of God. The purpose of this work is to reignite a passion for worship and service of God fueled by a love for His full majesty and divine worth. In this book, Sproul masterfully shakes the reader out of his complacency by reminding him of God's utter power, absolute Lordship, and incomparable purity. In each chapter, Sproul smashes the brittle world of generic evangelicalism with the hammer of biblical authority. When much of the evangelical world is trying desperately to cast God as either an unimposing grandfatherly figure, a divine butler waiting to assist needy persons, or a motivational guru intent on building our self esteem, Sproul has instead reminded us that such flippancy is entirely inappropriate to Biblical worship. In chapter after chapter, Sproul sets out to prove that "the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God" (Deuteronomy 4:24, cf. Hebrews 12:29) and is still the same God who struck down Uzzah for touching the ark (2 Samuel 6:7), and Nadab and Abihu for offering strange fire (Leviticus 10). Of course, Sproul does not want to create unmitigated fear in the believer's heart, but rather to reveal the ultimate reason why Christ had to die on the cross as an atoning propitiation for our sins: God's holiness demanded the cross since sin is "cosmic treason" against His authority, Lordship, and purity. Sproul's chapter on Martin Luther's insanity is particularly masterful. Here, he shows how "insane" Luther really was: he saw the holiness of God and his own frailty in comparison more clearly than most. Sproul intends to show that what appears to be mental brokenness on the part of the great German Reformer was actually his ability to retain a far more accurate spiritual perception of the transcendence of God. Thankfully, Luther was driven to the cross of grace. So too should we be driven to the foot of the cross by the impending wonder of God's holiness. Amazing treatise on the holiness of God
This is an amazing book on the holiness of God. It was recommended by my pastor and I can definitely see why. Dr. Sproul challenges the reader to consider their view of God. If He is not the holy God of the Bible then he is an idol made up in the reader's mind. I have highlighted so many passages in the book to reread and review. The last two chapters were a little more difficult and I didn't get as much out of them, but I'm sure it was just my lack of understanding. For the most part, this book was highly readable and understandable. Every Christian who truly wants to know God in the fullness of His glory should read this book. It is destined to become a classic.

The Very Foundation of All Proper Knowledge of God and Mankind
One of the most important "everyman" books that should be read by each and every Christian. The main reason there are so many professing Christians who don't subscribe the the Total Depravity of fallen mankind, is because they have no grasp of the holiness of God. So many seem to think that God is merely a bigger, better version of ourselves. This is not only utterly wrong and backward, it's blasphemous. Granted, I understand that we all grow at different rates, and some of us get really stunted in our growth, possibly forever remaining theological midgets our entire lives. Certain types of denominations seem to inadvertently make that a priority, in not teaching their disciples HOW to think in the first place, and in majoring on the minors and minoring on the majors. They're too busy with having "seeker sensitive" churches that the world won't find offensive, weird, and uncool, that they end up being man-centered rather than Christ-centered, and they eventually lose contact with the Head, becoming a hollow form that appears ... in some very weak fashion ... as pious, but is really dead. One of my favourite points in the book is the account concerning Uzzah, who steadied the ark from falling to the ground, and was instantly struck dead by God. I won't give it away. Read (or listen to) it for yourself and discover why it was justified.

This is a great book for anyone seeking to understand who God really is from a purely Biblical standpoint. I think this is a book that all true Christians should read.

This is a classic, it's a must read outside the Bible. Gives you greater view of who God is. My favourite section was on the insanity of Luther. He identified Luther's education in law was the means of grace which God used for Luther to fully understand the law of God. Luther was driven insane by the Holiness of God that he spend a lot of time confessing and even admitting that he did not like God sometimes. But we know what happened to Luther when studying Romans......

Exactly what I would expect from RC Sproul, clear, insightful and passionate exposition. He has expertly distilled what is a vast and profound subject to its essential detail providing much to excite the heart and provoke transformation of life. There are several others who match him in detail but few who do it so succinctly. Well worth reading.
