Helmut Newton: The Bad and the Beautiful

I know this photographer as I too am a photographer... Having the ability to see the backstory to someone that I enjoyed the work of was a true delight. The only reason anyone is reading this is because you know something about this man's life's work. Please, add this to your personal collection of photographic history.

This is an excellent DVD of various people discussing the late Helmut Newton and his work. There is also archival film of Helmut Newton talking about his life and work. I found the interviews with his models discussing their photographs to be very interesting. I recommend this DVD.

Need more guys like him. Incredible life and eye.

If you're not into seeing a lot of nudity this movie isn't for you. Helmut didn't take many photos of people with clothes on. There are also 2 scenes of him naked, so...The Times of Bill Cunningham was a much better movie!

Fascinating documentary of a noted photographer who took flattering pictures of beautiful and interesting women for the clothing and advertising industries.

A fantastic video. I loved hearing about Helmut Newton’s process in his own words. It was also wonderful to hear about how the models felt about posing for him and also the Anna Wintour interviews were terrific.

Ein selten gewährter Einblick in das Werk und auch die Seele eines Künstlers.

Für jeden Helmut Newton und Fotografie Fan ein Muß. Sehr schön gemachter Film über den Großmeister der Akt Fotografie.Kann man nur Empfehlen.

Eine eher enttäuschende Doku. Etwa 80% des gezeigten Materials ist bereits in anderen Dokumentationen(Frames from the edge etc)zu sehen. 20% mit neuere Interviews ehemaliger Weggefährten/Models.Der Titel "The Bad und Beautiful" wird dem Inhalt nicht gerecht. "the bad" kratzt nicht einmal an der Oberfläche. Ein Anschnitt der Kontroverse um Alice Schwarzer etc. wäre dem "Skandal-Fotografen" gerecht geworden.Einer jüngeren Generation erklärt sich der Skandel nicht.Die Dokumentation wirkt einfach planlos und aufgewärmt. Schade.Lieber Frames from the Edge schauen, Newtons Bildbände kaufen oder die Biografie lesen.
