serves the purpose to an extent of protecting from the glares at night. i used it while driving, predominantly for which i bought this. underneath the helmet visor, if your helmet has scratches, it is not going to block 80% of the glares. but one you lift of the visor, it makes a distinct impact of restricting a major amount of glares and makes headlights from the opoosite directions clear. the frame and glass though cover a good amount of area over the eyes to protect from head-on dirt and insects.
