This is an excellent honing rod. Wouldn't expect anything less from this company!

Many newer sharpening steels have a diamond patterned finish on them when never used before, this one does not and has long grooves instead. Both are good however I like this one better. The length is better for longer blades, I really like how I can use it to hone my cemitar and it works exceptionally well on my breaker knife as well as my boning knife!

Not sure why it's listed as a sharpening steel, but I looked at the listing well because I actually wanted a honing iron. Don't buy it if you think it will sharpen your knife. Do buy if you want your sharp knives to stay that way for a while. As far as the price goes and quality, i would say this is an amazing deal.

This is a nice sterling but it is alittle fine for me. I would prefer one that was a little more course.

This is not a sharpener but a honing tool, it complements an actual sharpener and its purpose is to maintain the knives edge (while a sharpener actually creates the cutting edge). That being said, this product is great and literally revitalises your knives without costing a fortune. It’s a bit on the large size so it’s relatively heavy and slightly difficult to store, but to me it’s perfect for both standard and large chef’s knives. Learn how to use it and you won’t need to resharpen the knives so often, while having a perfect edge for every single cut.
