Is this bright enough to use for newborn photography?

It is bright but would need to be held fairly close to the subject. I do not know how safe this might be with a baby. But it is adjustable so can be lowered in power.

Can anyone confirm what the charge time is for the lamp's built in battery.

I've not timed it, but using the micro USB port it takes a long time. At least 8 hours from flat.
