Cost-Effective Solution
Used this set along with a $40 variable speed polisher from Harbor Freight to ease the edges on some granite shower shelves I cut. Went patiently through the disc progression, misting the granite with a spray bottle as well as rinsing the discs to remove accumulated grit along the way. Wet process also cut down on the dust, but I still used PPE. End result was as you’d expect from a professional countertop fabricator. Very pleased!

Lower grit pads aren’t the greatest, wear thin, low surface contact.
When you polish any type of engineered or natural stone, the lowest grit, is one of the most important, if scratches aren’t removed , they will remain until the end. Due to scratch locations, or if you are dressing a seam up, or cleaning up after an edge profile has been sculpted, deeper scratched are going to be there. You will have to shift your pad to work them out. Think of what the imprint would look like if a man m stuck his chest to a window, now do the same for the ladies. The imprint left behind by the woman, would have areas made contact much sooner in some of the areas, causing the areas that aren’t rounded, to wear out quicker. If you have a flat surface, chances are a pad able to make constant contact, would be better. Take that with a grain of salt, this is coming from someone who polished every day. Factors to consider: The type of project (Touch up, new countertops, polish an existing counter or floor), the size of the area, what type of material are you polishing, and water run off. * Wet/Dry- Water helps the pad plow over the surface easier, it cleans the surface area, controls harmful dust, and I will add longevity to this item. ** Aluminum backing pad great for concrete, and terrazzo floors, areas that are not subject to breaking.
