works fairly well, though perhaps not newbie-friendly
I've used menstrual cups for nearly a decade now so am rather proficient in their use. But I've never used one like this that could be emptied while inserted, and was curious to try. My review is written assuming that the reader has used other cups before - I don't recommend this model for beginners. Its capacity is less than other cups like the DivaCup (presumably because of the longer stem needed to accomodate the valve). It also does NOT come in a larger size for women that have given birth (as I have). However, I did not have a problem with this cup being too small in diameter - despite being significantly smaller than my size 2 DivaCup, it stayed inserted and didn't leak (except for once when I went too long without emptying and it overflowed - an issue with ANY cup, not just this one).Does it work? Yes. You can't empty it 100% while inserted, but open the valve & bear down like you're removing the cup, and enough will squelch out to carry you through until your next bathroom visit. Is it less messy than emptying a normal cup in a public restroom? No, not really. I originally hoped that it would easily empty without getting mess all over my hands, but it's not really any cleaner than removing the cup entirely and wiping down with TP (as I usually do with my DivaCup in public restrooms). The benefit of this mechanism may be more for women that aren't as comfortable with their anatomy in the first place, those that aren't thrilled about getting up in there every time they empty it, and feel more comfortable just switching a valve rather than going gung-ho reaching up there. That being said, is it good for beginners? Maybe not. I personally wouldn't recommended it to a new menstrual cup user, unless they'd already tried a traditional cup and not liked it. The learning curve itself isn't much steeper than others such as the DivaCup. But if this had been my first cup ever, I would've hated it and never tried again. It's just...different.The product photo shows a red-colored liquid easily pouring out. This is NOT how it works, it doesn't just magically empty when you pop the valve. Menstrual blood is thick and sticky and chunky. My video review uses pancake syrup to give a better idea of how it flows out.The user manual I received with it was NOT for this product, it was for a standard cup (not one with the valve). I hope this was a random QC issue, because for others less experienced with this kind of product, instructions are vital for success.Overall, I think this is a unique idea and will probably still use it occasionally, but it wasn't wonderful and amazing enough to win me over from my DivaCup. But it works as advertised and I'm happy with it.(I received this product for free in exchange for testing, inspecting and reviewing it. Feel comfortable. Difficult to move filter ball in and out of place. Easy placement and removal. Better than some others, but ball at base for draining seems pointless.

I highly recommend this
I love this cup!!! I've had the Diva for a couple years now, but this cup with it's incredibly easy spout is so much better!! It's not as big so it does not press on my internal organs, so it's so much more comfortable!!

I leaked all over with this thing in. Might try it another time, but I am really disappointed in it thus far. Also better instruction would be nice.
