I really enjoyed Denise Eide's book Uncovering the Logic of English so I was excited to try this workbook with my students. It is great for basic letter sounds and ideas to create active and tactile spelling games, but it does not have worksheets or any list of words grouped by sounds or patterns like I assumed (but the Teacher's Manual offers lots of word lists etc.) It would be great for beginning spellers mastering sounds but it won't work for my intermediate students.

Waste of money
It didn't come with any of the actual game cards.

Adds an element of fun
Very helpful resource to add fun to your phonics or spelling review. This is meant to be a supplement for both the Foundations and Essentials level teacher's manuals and workbooks. If you are wanting word lists and how to teach spelling/reading you'll need to buy either a Foundations or Essentials workbook and manual from Logic of English (Pedia Learning). If you are wanting to add fun to your existing spelling or reading curriculum, or if your student needs to review phonograms and spelling rules this is a painless and enjoyable way to do it. The book if filled with games to play to master the basics of English phonics and spelling. You'll also need to buy game parts (phonogram tiles and color coded manuscript and cursive card decks) from Logic of English to play the games in this book.My son loves playing the games we're learning. Dragons and Rotten Egg have been hits for more than a year now, even outside of school hours.
