Lovely way to teach children
This is a lovely book with really nice pictures and a great way to help children understand the nutrient cycles and life/death.

A sensitive and beautiful story about life and death
So beautiful! This very sensitively tells the story of life and death in the context of a fox family. The artwork is simply breathtaking - each scene is gorgeous and the colours are beautiful. It's poetic yet factual and informative. It's both a story and an information book. A wonderful example of how science and non-fiction books can be creative, poetic and beautiful.

Cycle of Life
I bought this on the back of the Fox Study Unit review, ngl. . .I've just read it to my four year old, who has begun asking morbidly-curious questions, and had an insightful and calm conversation about death, returning to the earth for the benefit of the animals and earth, the circle of life, and, also, the importance of road safety. It doesn't explore the range of emotions experienced when subject to the bereavement process, as they're foxes, not people. It met my expectations after research; I would recommend.

Interesting perspective of life cycle but disappointing.
I loved the drawings and premise that everything is connected through life and death but felt concerned about the lack of any emotion allowed to the cubs on the death of their mother! As I wanted to give this to my grandchildren who, sadly, are going to lose a grandfather who's currently terminally ill I'm not happy to give them this now as a way of understanding death and coming to terms with it. Very good biological lesson but lacking in any emotional content on grief I feel. I heard about this book on Womens Hour so disappointed to discover this lacking aspect.

Must have
Lovely book, with really great and characterful illustrations. Nice to have a book that specifically refers to 'the circle of life' (as my 6 year old calls it), which is a fictional story, rather than it being a science book. I would recommend this story regardless of religion or beliefs as it is a way to discuss death and dying.

A very acceptable way to portray death to children through simple science and beautiful illustrations.

Wonderful story about such an important topic
An amazing book that explains death and what happens in a great way so that children can understand it. It provides a great stage for questions and discussions around death- something that we all have to get our head around! Beautiful descriptions and the illustrations bring it to life! Another fabulous book to add to the collection.

Not what I was expecting 😬
I was expecting this book to be about the Life Cycle of a fox. And got it for our Fox Unit Study. I wasn't expecting the Fox to suddenly get hit by a car and eaten away by bugs and mushrooms ðŸ˜! What even!?
