Incredible value - decent enough quality.
I bought two of these lamps shortly after returning four others of a different brand. The coloured ones the red the blue and the antique lamps from different manufacturers are quite different to the silver ones. The silver ones seem to be much better quality made of thicker metal have a much better spring loaded style lid and because the silver the paint doesn’t scratch off I had these lit using citronella scented lamp oil, which smell really nice and seem to keep the bugs at bay. I’m not sure why, but these don’t seem to get quite as sooty as the other lamps. I’ve just ordered two more hopefully they will be the same quality as this batch.

Good enough quality but inconvenient and not entirely safe.
I was almost forced to buy this online because less and less 'real shops' sell them now. They are safe if you know what you are doing, but are inherently a bit unsafe, eg if they get knocked over, also thin glass cover. Also most people, who do not know what they are doing, try to 'turn it off' by winding down the wick into the base. That's not what you're meant to do !! Then you have a huge hassle messing about retrieving the wick. And smelly paraffin gets all over the place when refilling it too. It's no wonder that more and more folk are turning to rechargeable LED lanterns instead. Me too. I haven't used this since I bought it. I used them a lot back in the day for camping or festivals etc - but not now. So inconvenient compared to the modern alternatives. Things change ! !

Item arrived days after due date. On receipt filled with paraffin , leaked from base plate, and again where the main frame is attached to paraffin tank . Very disappointing. Item was not expensive, but I felt it not safe to use due to leaks .

Perfect for garden. Bought if before reading reviews so was worried about it re safety. It came and it does feel clunky but works fine. Bought BS standard paraffin.
