Much better than expected while being all that I wished for.
I was tired of the yellow light put out by my current mini fluorescents. They were about bright enough but the light just wasn't clear enough to help me see good. I'm 49 and as I got older my eyes see poorer and poorer in dim light or inside lights. But my eyes see very good in the outside sun and I realized true sunlight made everything look much more clear. While searching for photography equipment on amazon, I stumbled upon these full spectrum light bulbs. They had very high ratings by reviewers so it peaked my curiosity and I began reading the reviews. I was impressed by how people said the colors were more vivid and clear with these full spectrum bulbs.I wanted that result for my indoor lighting but I was skeptical and hesitant to buy a quantity of these bulbs. And I doubted 27 watts was strong enough for my purpose. But so many reviews said it was a bright bulb I decided to give it an experimental try and I ordered a single bulb for actual testing purposes. When the 27 watt bulb arrived, I took out my 35 watt fluorescent bulb and replaced it with the new bulb.Wow, was I impressed. Even though it was a lower watt bulb, it was brighter and much more pleasant to see with. The true white light compared to the previous yellow emitting lights was much better. Everything looked natural and realistic now and the colors and clarity of everything was greatly improved.I was so impressed I began going to every room in my house and testing this new bulb. Some rooms had incandescent bulbs and others had 35 watt fluorescents. One at a time I removed every bulb and tested this new full spectrum 27 bulb.To my delight this bulb was a major improvement in every room. Especially the kitchen, the bathroom and my office. The globes I had up previously covering my old bulbs would not cover these new larger bulbs. I would have to run these bulbs hanging from my ceiling fixtures without a globe. So I put my old bulbs back in the ceiling fixtures and replaced the pretty globes. It was so worse I instantly realized to hell with the globes. They didn't light up the room. And having a dim yellow shaded unclear room was definitely not worth keeping my old pretty globes for.So I then ordered a bunch of these new bulbs through amazon. I waited excitedly for them to come. It was a tease having new good light in one room and old yellow light in the others. Thanks to prime my bulbs arrived two days later. Two days aint really bad for shipping speed but still it was too long for me. I should have paid the $3 extra for overnight service. Finally my eight new bulbs arrived. All my globes came off and these new full spectrum bulbs went into every room in the house. My wife was not home during any of this and I didn't tell her I was going to do this. I figured she would hate having her pretty globes removed and replaced with bare bulbs. But these full spectrum bulbs don't put off a bulb glare like a naked incandescent does. It doesn't need a shade or globe to hide the glare. It makes a smooth full light everywhere without one spot being too bright for the eyes while other spots are too dim and unclear. It’s a very even light and very consistent across the entire room. I was very delighted. Its been three days now my wife has been home and she has NOT noticed all the globes are missing from all the rooms. She has not noticed all the bulbs in all our ceiling fixtures are now all naked. And she has not noticed a single reason to complain. Well, at least not about the new lighting, but she is still her same old self. The bulbs didn't change her (unfortunately), but nor did they give a reason to fuel her complaining (which is rare). So I’m extremely happy with these new bulbs (and still miserable with my wife) and I highly recommend them to anyone that wants to see more clearly or more brightly. And plants will grow by these bulbs. So now I'm left wondering do I keep my new secret, or let my wife know she never noticed such a significant change? What do you think I should do? Leave a comment and share your opinion.Chris

works, great, but REALLY bright and big
I bought this light to help with seasonal affective disorder (SAD). That it does. The results were profound and almost immediate; positive mood changes were evident within a week and were sustained with the continued use of this light. So, for that, it gets 5/5The problem is that this light is HUGE and LITERALLY as bright as the sun. Yes, I realize that is the purpose of full-spectrum, SAD lights, and that the word "literally" is often used incorrectly, but I mean it. Looking at this lightbulb gives your sunspots in your eyes. I think it might even be a little dangerous so I warned people not to tempt fate to see what happened if they kept staring at it.One of these lights will, with the proper fixture**, light up an ENTIRE ROOM, but because it's so bright you have to be careful where you put it because you can't look at it. We had to put it in a corner floor lamp fixture, the kind with 3 cups that can be angled differently. We had to point it straight up at the ceiling so that the light would diffuse within the room without blinding anyone.**speaking of proper fixtures, it is important to note that this light is extra big, it is not a normal size and so it could stick out of and/or pose a heating hazard for some light fixtures. The fixture we put it in was about 5 inches deep and it stuck out about 1.5 inches. That is another reason it was so bright. This could be an advantage or disadvantage depending on your tastes and needs. It would be a good light for photography, too, if angled properly. I was happy with this light, but ultimately I gave it to a friend with SAD and replaced it with 6 Factop 3.5 watt LED lights in warm and full spectrum colors, and this does the trick without the risk of sun spots in your eyes.If you need a fast fix for SAD, a REALLY bright light, or a single light that will take care of a whole room, this is a great option.

Blue UV light - nothing like 'daylight'
This bulb emits a harsh, blue light that becomes painful after a couple of hours or so. It's nothing like daylight and not balanced.Very tiring on the eyes. Don't order it! I can't return it because I already threw out the packaging, so now I'll be throwing out the bulb and replacing it with a regular CFL bulb. Waste of time and money.

bright, clean light -- but too big for the most fixtures!
This gives off a nice, bright 'clean' natural light. I ordered it for my plant seedlings and indoor plants, because it gives off a full-spectrum of light and isn't yellow like most indoor lighting. However, it is really hard to explain how large this lightbulb actually is -- it wouldn't even fit in the fixture of one of those silver workshop clamp lights! The metal socket part fits, but the actual base of the lightbulb is too big for the lamp, and can't get screwed down all the way! So make sure that whatever fixture you use is big enough for this bulb. Will try and upload a photo later with an ordinary object beside it for size comparison.
