My husband put it together completely by himself while I was at work as a surprise for me. It can be assembled by one person and is easy to put together because of the instructions and how clearly pieces were labeled. We did screw it into the wall to stabilize it since it’s a larger shelf, but it looks great, and we’ve gotten lots of compliments. It’s very sturdy as it’s holding a large number of heavier biographies, cookbooks, and classics. We’ve purchased at least 5 bookshelves from Amazon, and this one has lived up to our expectations.

I just put this unit together and I am thrilled with it. On initial delivery I did have an issue where one piece was damaged. But I contacted customer support and after sending pictures they sent me out a replacement part. The customer service reps were very responsive in the messaging process and agreed quickly to the solution I requested. I was so relieved when the piece shipped extremely quickly and arrived very securely packaged. The completed unit is very solid and sturdy and looks great. I will very likely buy more of these to match over time.

The bookshelf is very nice. It's heavy, sturdy and looks good. BUT... it arrived damaged. I tried calling the company to see about sending a replacement part. 5 calls, left 4 messages and no response. The email address does not work either. Luckily, the damaged part does not really affect the function of the bookshelf. There were also a couple small parts missing but I was able to find replacements at Lowes. I really like the bookshelf but very disappointed with the company. followup: My requests for help were sent to the manufacturer themselves, per the assembly instructions. After I posted a negative review (above) the seller immediately responded. Please note that the seller was not responsible for the damage and replied back quickly, so I have absolutely no problems with them! Highly recommend.

A terrific bookcase. It seems to made from some kind of reinforced particle board - stronger than the basic stuff, but not quite MDF (much less solid wood). All the pieces fit together well, and I can't make the shelves bend at all when I push on them. At 7 feet high, it's quite an imposing structure, and yet it was fairly easy to put together. The one downside is the back panel. It's the typical super-thin wood that bookcase backs are made of, but in this case it's actually four individual pieces that are taped together at the factory. They don't quite fit together, so you will probably have small gaps (I know I do). In fact, the original back I got was warped, possibly from the weather on the day of shipping. Don't bother pulling the tape off to try to get a better fit - I couldn't. One more thing of note - the company support is terrific. I called them about the warped back panel, and upon confirming my order number, they mailed me a new back for free - no questions asked! And there's no automated system when you call their toll-free number - it goes straight to someone who can help. Great stuff!

Great unit! There were several pieces that were supposed to be labeled that were not, which made assembly take longer than it needed to, but with some careful picture scrying, and a little patience we figured it out just fine. My only real complaint is the color. I ordered the "cherry". It is very, very dark and its so red its almost purple in color. I mean, really purple! So bear that in mind. The unit itself is good quality, and I'm not worried that the shelves will bow. The shelves are particle board, but very thick and the front lip is real wood, as is the rest of the trim, and the sides. The back is in panels, that are connected together with some kind of tape stuff, but once everything is put together, and screwed and nailed, you would never know. All in all, I really love it!

Easy to assemnle but not great quality and shows marks instantly. Also oversized dowel cause the top to break but seller does not accept returns unless you send the whole 100# + thing back, which is stupid.

Once it was together it was very nice. Had some problem putting the backing on, it did not want to square u[. After that was resolved it was fairly easy to put together. Nice sturdy shelves that can be moved around to make it more of a display piece. If I had the room I would purchase another one.

Agree with the other reviewers that assembly is a bit of a nightmare. The first one took me close to 3 hours, the second one took about an hour and a half. While the bookshelves are pretty, the quality is not what I would have hoped for the price. The back is a flimsy piece of cardboard like material legitimately held together with tape. When I wiped styrofoam off the stain came off with it. While putting the bottom piece on the first bookshelves the wood just totally splintered and I had to get creative. The second shelve I was shorted two vital screws for assembly and had to go to the store. Again, the look of the bookshelf is very nice. If you have a lot of patience to get past assembly then they may be worth it. The dark brown color is very dark — almost black— but when the sun hits directly the shades of brown come out. All but one of the shelves are adjustable — which is great — except the holes running along each inside are extremely visible.
