Works Great. . . Simple. . . Easy. . . LOVE the USB Port
Overall I have had good luck with this player. It’s quite compact. I use an Ethernet cable, so that I received the fastest possible speed with my internet service. I’ve streamed a couple of movies from Amazon, and they worked out fine. I’ve played both standard DVD’s as well as Blu-Ray discs, and both have played without an issue. The remote is small / compact, but it works fine. It took me a couple of minutes to find out how to sync the remote with my TV (instructions are tucked-away on the set-up paper). One thing I really like is the USB port. I have a Western Digital passport drive, with lots of videos and pictures, so it’s really great to be able to view them through the Sony device.Overall I’m very pleased. It’s small. . . . it’s affordable. . . and it works. What more can you ask for?

Impressive for the price!
This is a very nice low-price box that does a lot.Of course I followed instructions - step one, access wifi; step two, update firmware. It is really two machines in one - a blu-ray player, and a streaming box. Some controls only work if it is in the "right mode" - that is, you can't launch the streamer if the tray is open, and you can't open the tray if it is in streaming mode. This is not a big deal, that's what the "home" button is for.I have had zero problems streaming in a few months of use (wifi only, I never bothered to hook up the wired ethernet jack).I have had zero problems watching DVDs and BDs in the same time. It's actually very nice to use. If left "paused" from one day to the next, it shuts down. Next day, when I tap "play" on the remote, it takes only seconds to resume. The colored buttons are for magic features on some BDs.The default "pillarboxing" of 4:3 aspect ratio DVDs is an excellent feature. It does a great job of decoding whatever surround sound format is thrown at it.Hint: pressing the REW or FFD buttons 2 or 3 times makes it go faster. It made some vibration when I first set it up, because it was on top of a component with a tin top. So I isolated it, can't hear it at all.For the price, I am very impressed.

Great Player Small Remote
The player supports many formats of disk. Since disks are actually becoming somewhat passé, the actual reason I bought the player was for its internet functionality. The unit is incredibly compact and still feels solidly built. (Sony.) I bought it as a gift for my parents and I went through the setup process for them. It was practically automatic from the minute I plugged it in. I typed in a password and Mom was watching Netflix within two minutes.I don't know how it would be as a wired internet unit but the wireless aspect of it worked flawlessly. The unit has the needed port if you do want to wire it.The instructions for the unit regarding getting the remote to operate a non-Sony TV were vague and incomplete. But once I figured it out, that worked too.The buttons on the remote and the remote itself are very small. Too small. It is not going to be a convenient remote for older people.

Better than expected
Apparently I didn't read all of the description, and I didn't realize that I had to purchase the high speed hdmi cord separately. I didn't compare prices anywhere because I was in a hurry to get it set up. I ended up going to a local Dollar General store and bought one for $14. I later found out that they are sold on here for about $6. The instructions made me think that I needed the hdmi cord and a coaxial cable, but I didn't. The hdmi cord worked without the other one. With that being said, I am still very pleased with my purchase. There are plenty of apps to choose from. You can pick which ones you want listed under "My Apps" on the "Home" or main screen. It's very easy to setup and use.The remote is small. It fits in my hand. It does come with batteries. It's simple to use.It connected to my wifi with ease. There is a feature called "Screen Mirroring," which sounds awesome, but I was unable to get it to work. It could possibly be because I tried it with an iPhone but I'm not completely sure. Basically, you're able to look at pictures from your phone on your tv, and it doesn't require any cords.Read all of the features and go ahead and order the hdmi cord (if you don't have one). Scroll down under the product. It should show up under the section where it says 'suggested purchase' or 'other people also bought.'This is my first day with it, so if anything changes, I'll update my review.

It works
Works just as advertised. Had same model for several years that broke. I liked so much I found I could buy the same one. And I did ..
