Islam: Art and Architecture Hardcover – June 1, 2015

I bought this treasure for my coffee table collection. It has so abundant details and insights about the architecture, history and craftsmanship through out the muslim world with gorgeous pictures. It's fantastic to use it as pre-trip preparation or coffee time mate.If you can have only one illustrated book about Islamic art and architecture, I recommend this one.

Very comprehensive and beautifully illustrated book. It covers all major Islamic dynasties and their take on art and architecture. It's a big book; make sure it will fit into your shelf. It's my understanding that this has been translated to and/or from another language.I have seen the German version of this very same book and it might be that it was written first in German then translated into English. The orthography is fine, but there are several occasions where sentences are surprisingly awkward, but otherwise understandable. I haven't found another book on the subject as comprehensive as this

T his impressive tome has been produced by 20 international authorities and covers the art and architecture of Islam from the 6th centuary to modern times. It extends from Morocco in the west to Indonesia in the east and from Central Asia inthe north toIndia in the south.In addition it details the history of dynasties that spread Islam.The pictures, text and maps are excellent.If you have this book you will not need another on this subject.

very pleased with this book . It covers my needs perfectly plenty of excellent photos ,maps.detail drawings of the islamic world from the Maghreb to the Moghuls and everything in between .It might not suit the needs of of a specialist but I was looking for an informative overview and explanation . the book is very well priced and I would recommend it without hesitation

An absolutely amazing book. Fantastic pictures and lots of facts too. Great to have on a coffee table and dip into at your leisure.
