Avantree is my new favorite after 40 years of Sony headphones.
First of all, I would like to introduce myself as a (former) lifetime user of Sony headphones exclusively for the last 40 years. Sony was the only brand of headphones I would buy without auditioning first as I knew it would sound awesome. So on Prime Day, I got a great deal on a pair of Sony Bluetooth headphones and bought them without hesitation...only to be disappointed in very poor sound quality, especially for the price. I'm currently returning them and will leave feedback on its page if you wish to see my review. I bought these Avantree Audition Pro's as a replacement and yes, I am taking a chance on a brand I have never heard of. However, after using these for the past 24 hours and putting them through its paces, I'm sold. Avantree is my new favorite. Here is why: First, they have gorgeous sound. Far better than you would expect at this price point. The reason I buy headphones is for clean, clear, full, rich sound, evenly distributed between the cups, and boy do these have it. Crisp highs, clear mids and clean lows. All beautifully blended together for an outstanding, well balanced sound presentation. I chunked the Sony's for this alone. Second, they have outstanding battery life. They came in the box fully charged and I have had them turned on since I took them out of the box. 24 hours later, still going strong with no dip in performance. I'm currently using them as a VoIP headset at work. I will update to let you know if they go the full 40 hours. I'm timing it on a stopwatch. Third, lightweight and very comfortable. I have worn these for hours with no fatiguing of the ears or head/neck. Despite being so lightweight, they still retain a premium feel and are well put together. I expect these to hold up as well as my 8 year old Sony's. Fourth, incredible Bluetooth range. The specifications state 30 feet range. I measured 38 feet for mine fully charged. 24 hours later, I measured 32 feet of range. I could leave my phone on the charger in the living room and stream to these while I lie down in the bedroom with no glitches. Lastly, flawless Bluetooth pairing. I have paired these with my personal laptop, my work laptop, my Kindle HDX 8.9, and my BLU Vivo XL with no issues whatsoever. They sound beautiful on all these devices with no EQ at all and no glitches. I detected no latency when I watch videos on my phone and laptop. The Sony's I returned had a half second delay which made watching vids on my phone and laptop painful. So those are all the reasons why these headphones are my new favorites. If I had any concerns, it would be how well they hold up to daily use. These puppies come with its own hard carrying case that I intend to use but I will update in a few months and let you know how well they held up to my abuse. So, buy a pair! They are a great value at this price point!

Awesome headphones that are actually over-ear!
First off, this review is for the Audition PRO aptX LL headphones. Most of the reviews I read on this page are for the Audition aptX headphones, so I wanted to provide some insight into the higher tier of the two products. I am not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination. I just love listening to music while on my (bluetooth-enabled) computer and I was tired of wires getting in my way while wearing headphones. After doing a lot of research on bluetooth headphones, I originally bought another pair of headphones that were advertised as over-ear headphones but were actually on-ear headphones. On-ear headphones do NOT work for me. They hurt my ears and are very uncomfortable to wear. COMFORT: After that disappointment, I sprung for these Audition Pro aptX LL headphones. They were about double the price, but as it turns out they were well worth the extra cost. (These are the most expensive headphones I've ever purchased.) These headphones are actually over-ear! My ears fit completely inside the soft pads, which means the pads rest against my head and not against my ears. Yesterday I wore these headphones about 6 hours straight and they never once got uncomfortable or made my ears hurt from pressing against my head. Hallelujah! The headphones are easy to adjust, and the headband is comfortable as well. AUDIO: In terms of audio quality, they suffice for my needs. As I said, I'm not an audiophile at all -- just an avid music lover. I did notice these headphones aren't nearly as "tinny" as the other headphones I bought, so that's a plus! The bass isn't overwhelming, nor is it non-existent. The audio seems to be well-balanced to my untrained ears. BLUETOOTH/SYNC: Bluetooth is a blessing and a curse for me. I'm now free from those pesky wires, which is absolutely amazing! In addition, I can walk into the next room and the audio will still play as long as I don't walk too far away from my computer. The downside, like all other bluetooth headphones and earphones I've ever used, is that every now and then, the audio cuts out for a split second. I chalk this up to the bluetooth technology versus these particular headphones because, as I mentioned, this seems to occur with all bluetooth headphones I've used. In terms of sync, I have watched some videos on my computer and the audio was never out of sync with the video. As far as I can tell, the "low latency" feature of these headphones is completely true. BATTERY: I've had these headphones for three days. I charged them right after I bought them and since then I've put in probably about 20 hours of listening and I haven't received that dreaded low battery notification yet. (From what I read, it can scare you since it's loud!) The verdict is still out on the 40 hour battery claim. CONNECTING TO DEVICES: As advertised, I had no issues connecting these headphones to either my phone or my computer. ACCESSORIES: These headphones come with a hard travel case, a micro USB charging cable (wall adapter not included), and a 3.5 mm audio cable which is optional. Overall I am very satisfied with these headphones and would definitely recommend them if you're looking for comfortable, reliable OVER-EAR headphones for under $100.

Nice headphones, great sound, very comfortable, mostly compatible with Samsung smart televisions.
I bought these headphones along with the Avantree aptX low latency bluetooth 4.2 transmitter because we have a Great Room and sometimes a kid needs quiet to do homework, or my husband or I need to work while other people want to watch television or play games. We originally bought this set to work with a TCL Roku television. It was easy to set up and worked like a charm. We liked that it also worked as a hearing-assistance device, but that was not particularly necessary for our purposes. We had to return the TCL Roku television when the hard-drive crashed after four months (DON'T RECOMMEND), and we came home with a Samsung Q7f 4K television. Here is the tricky part: When we tried to connect the transmitter and headphonees to the Samsung, we could not get any sound out of the headphones. The good news is that it is easily fixed. The bad news is that if you want this transmitter and headphone set to work as hearing-assistance devices with a Samsung smart TV, you need to have an external sound system (a sound bar would work). Before the transmitter would connect to the Samsung, we first needed to clear the pairing/connection history by doing a hard reset to factory settings on both the transmitter and the Avantree headphones. To set up the Avantree with the Samsung smart tv WITHOUT An EXTERNAL SOUND SYSTEM: connect the transmitter to the Optical connection on the television. Go to settings on your Samsung TV, go to sound, set the audio/optical to PCM. I do not have a soundbar or other external speakers, so I cannot give detailed instructions for connecting through an external speaker system. But, the Samsung television has a specific output for "external speaker," which you would use instead of the optical output. If you want to be able to use both the speakers and the headphones at the same time, you would need to connect the transmitter to the external speaker system instead of directly to the television. This is an issue with the television's settings, not Avantree's transmitter. Once we cleared the old pairing data back to factory settings, re-pairing was easy. To pair the headphones to the transmitter, press the A button on the transmitter and then hold the on/off button on the headphones. You should hear a voice say, "Welcome to Avantree. Pairing." Wait until you hear, "Connected." You have now paired the first pair of headphones and you should start to hear the television. If you don't hear anything, turn off your headphones and reset everything back to factory settings. (Also, make sure the headphones are charged.) Wait until you have paired the first set of headphones to A on the transmitter before pairing the second set to B. We experience no lag between the audio in the headphones and the television or video games, and the headphones provide rich sounds, picking up even background noises in games and movies that we had never heard before. The headphones are soft and comfortable on our ears, too. I also like that the phones can be plugged into a computer or other device using the radio connector cord that comes with the headphones. This way, I don't have to rely on bluetooth if I want to use the headphones for other purposes. We bought a third pair for my son to use with his computer, and he loves them.

Worked right out of the box, very simple to hook up, no hassles, nice sound too! Well worth the $
This worked, right out of the box! Already charged up even! Our TV only offers analog (RCA) out or Optical (Digital). The transciever only works with 3.5mm plug, but it does have an RCA to 3.5mm converter. So, our only choice was to hook via RCA plugs. We bought an extra pair of Avantree headphones, the second pair are a bit nicer, fold, and come with a zip up hard cover, suitable for travel. The first time we connected, the sound was not synced to lips....we thought maybe it was due to the analog to digital (bluetooth) conversion process. We attempted to adjust the TV's "lip sync" option, to no avail. But, since then, we now notice the sync is dead-on!!! Works spectacular. Maybe it just needed a reboot? We were turning the unit on and off when not using. Now, we leave it on all the time. I must say, the sound quality, deep bass and spatial surround sound is awesome!!! Better than our 5.1 system! As a side note, we are using Dish TV with Hopper 3 DVR, a spectacular system, well worth the money. We rarely watch live TV, and, when we do, it is very easy to pause and rewind, which of course can also be done on anything recorded. The headphones are for late-night listening so as to not wake up others up in the house. Otherwise, we have a real nice 5.1 surround sound with sub-woofer. All we have to do is turn down or turn off the sound bar and power up the headphones. The nice part is, you can run both headphones and soundbar system at same time, good for someone a bit harder of hearing or who like it loud! The only con I can say is, there is a bit of a delay in everything connecting. It's not terrible, just pause whatever program you are watching until you hear the headphones actually connect to TV (sometime after the audible signal says its connected). The other thing we noticed, again, only marginal neg, when one headphone is already paired and listening to audio, the second one will interrupt the sound while it is pairing. It is brief. Again, simply pause the program you are watching. You will notice a sound difference in your headset when you are re-connected. On rare occasions, we noticed a bit of the sound may get distorted or skipped by a blip of interference...maybe from other bluetooth devices? Who knows. Simple remedy for it, rewind! Even when we are watching on our soundbar, there are occasions where my husband and I look at each other and ask "What did they say?" So, our rewind button is very familiar. And, in fact, I have noticed, since wearing the headphones, we are able to more clearly hear what is being said. It kind of gets you spoiled to hear so well through headphones! I'd recommend this product in a heartbeat! It came highly recommended through a Google search, and, I must say, it has lived up to its reputation!

Excellent sound but AptX LL is what makes the Audition Pro's stand out for TV listening
This review is for the Avantree Audition PRO headphones. There are VERY few AptX LL headphones on the market, surprisingly so given how critical that technology is in using wireless headphones with a TV. You'll find opinions all over the map about using Bluetooth with TV, with some people claiming that regular BT doesn't lag for them. I think it's due to different people's sensitivity to lip synchronization errors and/or their preferred TV programs not showing talking characters very much. But I am quite bothered by regular Bluetooth delay to the point that I put up with a 15' cord to be able to use wired cans with my TV. However, after knocking over a few glasses of refreshing beverages, when I saw these on Amazon at a pretty reasonable price, I thought I'd give them a try. The Audition Pro's paired quickly with the Trond BT-DUO S Bluetooth transmitter/receiver (available here on Amazon) in the AptX LL mode providing very minimal lag used with my Sony 65" XBR TV. Sound quality is quite good, with sufficiently extended bass to have surprised me a couple of times when listening to music on TV that I hadn't realized had some deep synth bass. Bass is solid but not overemphasized like Bxxx's. Mids are neutral if not particularly spacious, and highs are just right, neither bright nor muffled. They are also very comfortable, I'd rate them very close to the Bose QC35's except for being a bit tight on my admittedly large head, and look pretty classy. Their passive noise reduction is also decent, allowing me to hear in a noisy environment (not a plane but over the hum of a modern office) without having to boost the volume. I haven't paired these with my phone since I use my Bose and a sports headphone for that, so I can't comment on call quality. And I use some Stax electrostats for serious music listening. One comment on a previous review- the loud voice that announces pairing, low battery etc can be disabled by pushing the multifunction button and the volume down button at the same time. Replaces the voice with a brief tone that isn't as loud. For experiencing TV sound at whatever volume you prefer and with MUCH better quality than the built in TV speakers (or even the cheap soundbars that are multiplying like rabbits) these really are terrific. Just remember that for best results, you need to pair them with an AptX LL transmitter. And note that only the Audition PRO's feature AptX LL. The plain Audition model that is $30 cheaper is just plain AptX- fine for music listening but not as great for TV, and also doesn't have as comfortable a headband or ear cushions. They're combined under the same listing on Amazon.

Decent Set of Headphones
Out of the box, I was pretty impressed by the looks. And there wasn't much to disappoint after handling them a little bit. The pleather, both on the band and on the cups, is supple and comfortable. The stitching on the band is even and looks like it'll hold up for a while. Finishing on the plastic cups is pretty good, too. The only misgiving I had about the build was the paint on the hinged part of the headphone had rubbed off a bit. They fit well on my head and I had no complaints after taking them out for a walk with my dog. They even stayed in place while I was playing with my cat! The sound has a few peculiarities that I can't ignore. When I fired them up for the first time I noticed a distinct hiss. I couldn't hear it at mid-high volumes - but if you're in a quiet room on low volume you're definitely going to notice it. If you power the headphones off and instead directly connect them to your music player with a cord, there is no hiss. I think they sound much better in passive mode (cord attached)… tho I bought these for bluetooth sooo...! The other sound problem I have is that when you press the buttons it's actually pretty loud. I wish they would have put in quieter buttons or put more sound insulation between the buttons and my ear. I noticed in the manual they actually have a bass boost function! I tried it out, it definitely adds bass. These are already pretty bassy IMO, so not that important to me, but it was kind of a cool thing that I wasn't expecting. Overall I'm satisfied with these, I think they deserve somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. They'll be great for going out on walks or doing activities where I need to listen mid-high volume. The controls work good although it took a little while to acclimate to the various button commands. If these ever break and I have to replace them, I probably will try something else. Update (13 March 2018): I've been running with these for about a month now, and I have a few more things to say. First, the 40 hour battery life is real. It's really, really, actually what I got. This was very impressive. I've charged these once and have used them almost every day. Second, just for fun I tried out some aftermarket cushions (see link at bottom). The headphones felt good to begin with, but I think they improved the look and feel from stock. Wicked Cushions ath m50x Replacement Ear Pads - Compatbile with ATH M50 / M50x / M40 / M40X / Sony MDR / Shure SRH 440 / monoprice 8323 / takstar hi 2050 And More Oval Shaped Headphones I also have another little nitpick. I wish the wires connecting the headphone band to the cups could be longer. They restrict the range of motion of the cup and I'm a little worried that since the wire restricts the motion rather than the headphone frame, there is risk of me breaking it some time down the line. I My M-Audio Q40s, on the other hand, have cups that can rotate all the way around (see picture) so there is no risk of ever breaking the wires simply by rotating the cups too far. In other news, Avantree reached out to me and noted that they were looking into the button noise that I mentioned. It's cool that they're reading this feedback and are interested in improving their product. I'm looking forward to seeing even better headphones from them in the future.

Great value, excellent sound, works exactly as advertised, premium look and feel.
I have to hand it to Avantree. These headphones do what they say they will do, sound great, and have a really aesthetically pleasing, premium look and feel to boot. At this price, you would be hard pressed to be disappointed. I'd been looking for a way to listen to music. movies, and games on my Windows 10 PC, without disturbing the others in our apt as well as the downstairs neighbors. I'd tried an existing BT dongle I had with some headphones I already had. Not only did the sound quality suck, the latency meant that the sound did not match with what was going on onscreen, such as a person talking etc. SO I used a wired setup which eliminated those issues, but it sucks being chained to the cord. Did research and the key to what I wanted is the AptX Bluetooth technology for sound quality, and then the newer aptX-LL (Low latency) reduces the latency so sound and video are synced up much better. I bought these headphones along with an Avantree APTx-LL transmitter, which can connect to a phone jack, or an optical input for better sound, if you have it. In short, the headphones paired to the transmitter instantly, and everything was as promised. It is a very elegant solution for my needs. The sound quality is excellent. Overall fidelity is very good, good tight bass, solid highs as well. Now, you will get better sound if you pay more. But I think you would have to pay a good bit more. These sound very good and it will be a case of diminishing returns going up in price. These headphones are comfortable, with leather ("protein leather", I probably don't want to know what that is, but it feels like soft leather) earcups that can be replaced if need be. They are reasonably lightweight. They have a premium look and feel that is very pleasing to the eye and to the touch. They would be a good deal at$100 or more, honestly. You get a pretty nice hard case (headphones are foldable) and various cables, including a regular phone jack that you can use in wired mode without using battery. I even got a follow up email from Avantree and I get the impression they are sincerely concerned with customer satisfaction. Avantree seems like a very good company in every facet from the planning and execution of the product, to price point, to the product working as expected with good quality across the board. With so many sub par products or even outright scams (500 GB micro SD cards for $20, etc), this product is actually better than it has to be. I'm genuinely impressed. One small criticism, the bass boost feature (not in the otherwise thorough instructions, but you hold down both the volume up and down for about ten seconds) muddies up the sound for music, sounded quite bad actually, so I don't use it for music, though I did appreciate this feature for movies. I can't speak to longevity as I've only had these for a few days, but initial impressions are very positive, and I am happy with the purchase.

How do these crappy headphones have such a high rating?
Honestly, I am generally a review hound. Trusting "the masses" often yields the best value/products. Not in this case. I'm not trying to slam these, but to offer real info. So many reviewers say things about these phones that are simply not true. Also, I'm no audio pro or anything, so I'm not holding these to high standards. I am judging against the 5 or 6 pair I have owned previously from $30-$50 (these are the most expensive- by nearly $25- but near the worst that I have owned) Sound quality - OK. I'm not really complaining about this. Sound quality is suitable for everyday task and is good enough not to stand out as a problem. You wont be blown away, but you won't notice them struggling to reproduce the spectrum (though it's rather limited) Fit- Fit on head needs improvement. I am 6ft and 300lbs, but these headphones are really really loose. They don't hold onto your head at all so if you look down or bend over- be ready to pick them up off the ground or catch them in the air. This is rediculous. Sound quality would be improved if this problem was improved as well. Volume/power- Poor These headphones produce a volume at top volume that barely beats out the front speakers on my Pixel 2. That's pathetic. I generally use headphones while working in the kitchen or mowing and I literally cannot hear these headphones AT ALL, at full volume while on the mower. Again, head fitment/tighter fit would slightly improve this. Poor volume leads me to the next category.... Noise cancelling - Poor I know these aren't noise cancelling headphones, but I don't have a good term for it other than that for the amount of ambient noise transfer through the case. Over-the-ear? Whats the point of that when you still hear through the headphones as if you didn't even have headphones on, and when playing they are almost the same volume standing next to someone with these on as they hear in their ear. Low Latency- Bullcrap The "low latency" feature (lip sync basically), only works with another piece of equipment (transmitter I think), as almost ALL bluetooth things you hook these up to need that 3rd item. That is fully rediculous, and not communicated in the description. You will find out you need to spend more money to get your $70 headphones to do what the box says they do. Come on now Avantree, this is deceptive marketing. Sure, it says this on the box, but you don't get to read the box on amazon. Connectivity- Excellent No problems. Connects to anything anytime. I only have 1 thing at a time to hook it to, so I have not had any of the problems others have cited with several paired devices in the same room. Build quality - Good/great These feel really nice, the "leather" is soft and supple, and the look is classic. They don't look like you stole the ears off a robot, and I feel like they will last (can't say the same for the amplifier since it needs to always be pegged). Accesories - adequate They come with a nice hard-ish zipper case, 3.5mm wire, and micro usb charging cable. Case is really nice amd holds the headphones and cables safely and securely. It does not, however; come with the charging block for a standard plug, so you either need to already have one (which I didn't), or charge on a computer (which I don't have). This is kind of rediculous, as AGAIN you need to buy something else to use basic functions. Overall, I wouldn't reccomend these things to anyone. To be real, I had a pair of Bluedio turbine 2's that make these headphones seem like toys, and those Bluedio's are half the price. Pretty sad. I thought I was going to get the best headphones I have ever owned, but got the worst. My reccomendation if on a budget- get the Bluedios- half the price with better sound quality, better fit, better power/volume, and even a slot for micro SD card that will play without being paired to anything. They are ugly and the controls are confusing, but you won't wish you bought something else like I do with the decidedly garbage Avantree phones. And the worst part- the Amazon reviews are overwhelmingly positive. Are people really that clueless? I guess I already know the answer. EDIT 5/7/18 - Today I was harassed by Avantree for this review. I received an email (exploiting my info), telling me what I need to buy to make the low latency work. Why would I send this company more money after being disappointed with their product? It is already overpriced for the scant amount of "quality" these headphones offer. I was told I could return my headphones IF -wait for it- I buy the more expensive pair from them with the transmitter. Yeah, for real. This is a pathetic way to do business. Hey Avantree: maybe you should f'ing tell people about the stupid pathetic transmitter thing BEFORE they spend their hard earned money on your overpriced garbage, not after they try to warn the public of your deceptive practices. Truth is I don't care about the transmitter - I don't need low latency. I just wanted a decent pair of phones, but instead I paid twice as much as I should have for a product that isn't half as good as it should be. Sorry avantree, you simply make overpriced headphones that CANNOT COMPETE with other "comparables" in the $30 price range. For $70 I should have gotten something that's not junk. And you folks had to go make a whole "thing" of it because you just had to try to sell an unhappy customer again, and make a few more bucks off of someones problem with your product. Fool me once: shame on you. I won't be fooled again. I wish there was some way to stop you from further exploiting my info. Ps- and proof read the damn emails. My god. I get harassed from a company and the long winded email reads as if it was written by someone that English is their third language.

Great for it's sound quality and aptX-LL
Bought these headphones mainly to use with my Nintendo Switch as I wanted wireless headphones with low latency. The low latency it just perfect, the aptX-LL codec works as it should for me: no noticeable latency, I love it! The sound quality is also great. I use it for music and watching videos on my phone as well. As others have noticed, it leaks sound a lot. The material is just very thin and light I guess. This does make it super comfortable to wear. It felt too light (cheap) at first, but I've really gotten to love it now. The sound leakage is no problem for me. The only place it could be a problem is when I'm in bed and my partner is asleep. But in that situation, I want the sound on very low volume for myself anyway, meaning it's not noticeable for others. All in all, I highly recommend buying these headphones!
