that is the wrong connector you said for the BAOFENG... the correct connector is "onelinkmore SMA Female to SO239 Female RF Coax Adapter UHF Jack SO-239"

Does this come with the so239 connectors seen in the picture?

It depends on the model. Some come with so239 connectors. Mine came with with type N connectors. If you plan to use mobile/station radios, you'll probably want so239; if you use HTs (walkie-talkies), you'll probably prefer type N. But you can use either for either. These meters are very good. The SW-33 and the SW-102 are both great!

The manual shows a version 4.3, but my version is a version 2.7. do i need a firmware update?

No because 2.7 is the latest firmware already

There are adapters from whatever to whatever... Search N-female coupling. This does affect in a measurable way of the unit..
