When I first started my chicken journey a couple months ago, I bought a solar chicken coop door. It was really hard to make a decision because every single door that I have seen reviews on has very very positive reviews and very very negative reviews. I opted to go for a cheap version and I have to tell you it never worked more than twice in a row. I was constantly begging anyone close to my house to run and open the door. Egg production suffered. I go to work at 3:30 in the morning and do not get home until after 4 PM. On my workdays I need a reliable door. I finally admitted defeat on my first purchase and went with run chicken. This door is extremely reliable. Installation was super easy because I already had the whole cut out for my previous door which was a pretty standard size. Programming was super simple and I’ve changed it quite a few times in the past week to really fit what works for me and my coop. The only downside is I wish it had an app to controll the door, not just program it. That strictly comes from my fear of the first door being unreliable. I would like a way to manually close the door remotely, but so far so good I haven’t needed that function at all! Definitely worth the money especially if you’re like me and you’re not able to be there to open up the coop door and close it. I would recommend to any friend or family member and unlike the highly rated items here, I was not given a promotion to write a positive review. This is truly a well made door

Excellent automatic light sensor chicken door. I purchased this in May, 2024 and it is now September 2025. The door has been 100% consistent and reliable. I leave it on the “factory default setting” and it opens according to the light sensor in the morning and closes maybe 20 mins after sunset. It has to be pretty dark to close (not just dusk). But I think that is ok, because 1. You don’t have any late straggler chickens getting locked out, and 2. in our area most of the predator activity isn’t until later at night. Manufacturer recommends changing the two AA batteries once per year just before winter. Our batteries lasted 18 months, but it’s better just to be in the routine of doing it at the same date each year for safety. Unit was easy to install, just follow the printed directions. Perfect size for all our hens and a larger rooster. Highly recommend! A must have if you’re keeping chickens.

Original review******* The performance of this door is rock solid. Very easy to install, and makes one less chicken chore for you to have in your busy day. The door won't hurt your chickens and unlike cheaper knock off clone doors, this is made of aluminum. Haven't tried the app yet but it's so easy, to setup and install the app will only make it an even better product. Very well engineered and packaged. I will be buying a second for my bigger secondary coop and run. You definitely get what you pay for! In this case, quality. *******Feb 19 update*** After several months, and use of heating lamps (safe rated and properly secured) the door has some issues, it is in fact reactive to flashlights, artificial motion lights, and absolutely will not program. I reached out to the customer service team and got a prompt email back basically stating things found in the manual and that GPS AND time program thru the App would disable the light sensor. One morning I found my chickens in the fenced pasture with a fox 🦊 nearby setting off my outer perimeter motion sensors from Wuloo I got here on Amazon. Fortunately only one was missing and ended up having to block up the door because it will randomly open if a chicken moves and allows the light sensor to become exposed to light. Now, the door,sensor mind you is on the outside, why even with it framed it is so sensitive idk, I’ve tried creating a awning behind it and relocating the door to the bottom of the coop. I’ve tried my Galaxy Fold 3, IPhone 13 and iPad, will not accept programming from the app even on brightness on 100 on any screen. A manual door at this point and a waste of time and money. Fortunately no one (chicken) has died yet and I eventually will purchase infrared heaters to hopefully mitigate this problem. I had high hopes.

I've had a window screen cat flap for many years and the cats have come and gone as they like. But in recent times housing development in my area has put pressure on wildlife and now we have coyotes wandering our subdivision streets at night and sometimes in the daytime (and turkeys). I lost 2 cats to these coyotes. I closed the cat flap and then looked for another way to control when the cats could go in and out. I did not buy the cat doors that require a microchip because feedback mentioned that those collar chips had to be in a perfect position to work and the door makes a noise that scares shy cats. The cost of those cat flaps was the same as this Chicken Run. The Chicken Run door was big enough that my window screen cat flap could flap in or out with this in place and there would be no need for microchips so I bought one to try. I installed it on the inside with a wood frame butted up against the window screen cat flap and it works perfectly. It opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at midnight. The sound of it opening is not scary to the cats; now, they can come and go as they like during the day. Also by closing at midnight, it prevents any raccoons from coming in the door as well - which hasn't been a problem. I do recommend this Chicken Run door. Note that it runs on 2 AA batteries which ARE INCLUDED. Set up is done on your cell phone - you download the free Chicken Run app from the App store and pair the device to your phone. Then you set the times you want or program it to open and close by the sun's light. It's easy to program. I am very happy with this device.
