Great meat tenderizer!
What a great product! At first it was a little intimidating because it wouldn't move and it looked like there are sharp blades hidden between 2 layers of hard plastic. But then I noticed the little picture that told me it was "locked". I gave it a twist and voila! Not locked. The angled blades slide through the plastic support disc very smoothly. This will take a cheap piece of tough mean and turn it into tender grilled steak with a little seasoning and the a grill of course. Or you can use it on a pot roast, or any other meat that might otherwise require a bunch of noisy pounding with the loud hammer thing. Totally worth a try! This is not my number one go-to tool when preparing steaks or chicken for the grill, or roast for the oven. The seasoning will soak in farther and the heat from the flame or oven will make it cook more evenly.Totally recommend this product.I received this item at a discount for my honest review.

I was pretty impressed with the results
I couldn't wait to try this so upon receiving it I got it out and used it the very same day. I was pretty impressed with the results. It is very easy to use. Push down on the top and the blades come out through the protective cover and stab into the meat. You do this over and over until the meat is full of the small holes. It is much easier to use then a meat hammer, it is much quieter and much less messy as well. I did have to manually pull let's take off of the blades a couple of times which surprised me. It has a spring-loaded mechanism so I was sure that the blades would pull out and pop right back up. And they did for the most part. But a couple of times they did not. After filling the steak with a small holes all over I added some seasoning and let it sit for about 10 minutes. I was thinking at this time that with all the punctures in the state it would be a perfect time to marinate it. I didn't have anything like that prepared at the time so I just went ahead with my plan of using seasoning alone. I threw the steak in the skillet with a small amount of butter and chopped onions and I noticed that the cooking time was cut almost in half. This really surprised me because the thought never crossed my mind. Then not even realize it was possible. Anyhow the cooking time was cut in half and the steaks were probably the best that I have ever cooked. They practically fell apart on the plate and also in our mouths. Now I had not anticipated such a significant difference. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised, and my husband was even more so. I swear I don't think I will ever cook another piece of meat without this or something similar. I did notice a couple times while using this that it felt a little flimsy or like the blades might break. So I would not mind having one just like this that is just a little bit sturdier and more durable. It didn't break at all and still works just fine. It was also very easy to clean and sanitize, BUT it did feel a tad bit weak under the pressure of me pushing down on it, as I was supposed to. While I can't deny the results, I would just like something that feels a little stronger, that I don't worry about breaking with every press of the blades.I came across this and had to add an edit. It's 3 years later and I STILL use this every time I cook meat. Steak, chicken, even pork chops. This thing is so we'll made and so easy to use. It takes no time to tenderize your meat with this. After all this time it's still like new. The blades are as sharp as they were the day I got it. I will never go without one of these again.

I replaced the one I love, love, loved for this better one.
This is an incredible product I am able to buy a cheaper cut of meat and with this no one can tell the difference. No I am not really a cheap person, just frugal in today's economy. I already have a longer rectangular one that I love love loved until I got this one. This one is so much nicer because it is smaller and easier to hold it also has 4 more super sharper teeth than the larger one. I really like the fact that this has a lock on it so it cannot be depressed when activated. The brush to clean it is also a god send as I was always looking for something i.e. fork small knife or toothpick to clean the small chunks of meat that always git stuck between the teeth. I have also used this for elk and bear meat and it makes them tender as well and they are tough cuts of meat. The elk more so than the bear. The plastic safety cover is nice as well in case you forget to lock it and reach for it in the drawer. "ouch" It tenderizes a steak in a matter of seconds even when you do both sides I can still get it done in less than a minute per steak. Doing it on both sides makes it terrific for marinating. I must warn you when you use it on chicken it has a tendency to flatten the meat out. I have not tried it on bone in chicken so am not sure how well that would turn out.I liked this so much with it's light weight and small size that I have purchased another one to through in with my camping gear.
