My New Favourite Ball Winder
Purchased to replace the similar (other Brand) one I owned that I broke. Feels far sturdier than the last one and remarkably quieter too, according to my son it no longer sounds like one of the first-ever trains made and now sounds like a remote control car 🤣Really easy to assemble, would recommend putting the washer on top of the winding arm or the nut falls through the gap. makes a really nice cake and is going to be a well-used purchase as it's quiet enough to use while watching the TV and not having to put subtitles on x

Sturdy winder
I bought this for it’s sturdiness and it’s certainly a beefy machine. I did struggle with the yarn guide until I moved the washer to under the wing nut. Combined with a swift it makes a nice compact cake. I need to get the swift winder set up the correct way round the neck time but this winder is a million times better than my old one

Robust and high capacity
Solid unit, metal gears, good action. The noise is a very gentle rumble, - I guess it depends what you're fixed to, and like all winders you need to ensure a loose tension on the free end of the yarn or it'll lock up and ruin your nice smooth action. The retaining loops on the guides can catch knots or loopy yarn but if go steady it's a great bit of kit. Robust, smooth and a nice big capacity. The resulting cake is neat and firmly wound and I'm chuffed. Love it!

this is great
This is so much better than the cheaper ones, I've done all my balls of wool and reduced the storage I needed by half

Metal frame and gears.
Just turn the handle. Good speed, creates a ball which feeds from the centre or outside as you wish.

Don’t bother
The mechanism is far too stiff, it snapped my yarn and kept getting jammed. When I eventually managed to wind a skein of yarn, the ball was far too tight: couldn’t get it off the winding cone. First skein broken so often it was unuseable, second skein stretched and ruined. As an indie dyer I was looking for a hard working, robust winder and this appeared ideal - it wasn’t

Cover your table!
This product is great for what I need it for! It's pretty easy to set up, and one you get the hang of it, it's quite easy to use too. However, I do have a couple of comments:- It WILL damage your table. Not underneath the table, but the top where the screw fits the long thin metal piece to the winder (you'll see where I mean). A way around this is to stick some cardboard under it. However...- this makes it a bit noisier. I was expecting it to be loud but I can see some people were surprised. It's loud. Even without any cardboard it's noisy. It's manageable though - I stick headphones in and listen to podcasts.- I was a bit disappointed because I didn't get the crochet hooks as extra. I think I just misread the details, but do double check if you wanted those too. I got the largest winder, so looks like they only come with the smaller one!All in all, a handy piece of kit that does exactly what I need. I just wind straight from the ball - a swift is better, but not absolutely necessary!

Loud but effective
Winder arrived in perfect condition and couldn't have been easier to set up, although if you've not used one before it might take a second to figure out how to work it. When it says high speed, it is NOT kidding. I can go through a 6 ounce ball in about 8-10 minutes, if that. Depends on how many tangles the yarn gets itself into. The arm that holds the yarn wiggles a bit, but its fine if you get the bolt tight enough and make sure the arm goes UNDER the washer, not just the wingnut. Overall very sturdy, I've gone through easily 30 balls of yarn in about a week and it's not showing any signs of stress. Some of the gears are plastic, which disappointed me a bit, but its very sturdy plastic and they aren't thin or anything. It fits my desk nicely as well. the only yarn i have yet to try with it is super thick stuff. I have some lion brand hometown i haven't tried on it because i don't want to break anything, but i DID try it with size 10 crochet thread, which works better than you'd think. Still have to see if it'll take size 40 though. Now for the only downside I've found, it's noisy. Not earth-shatteringly noisy, but it makes quite a loud vibrating/rumbling noise into the table. For what its worth, my family isn't terribly bothered by it when I've got my bedroom door closed, but for anyone in the same room it's quite loud.Overall I'm very happy. Not going to claim it's the best out there, because i know there are more expensive, quieter models, but this one works really well for the price.
