Historic Iron Gall Black Ink for dip pen, 1 oz

This is a great quality ink. I recreate 18th century letters regularly and this ink is perfect.I will be a repeat customer.

Amazing ink! I've been a fountain pen user since 1986 and recently acquired a dip pen a couple of weeks ago. I don't do calligraphy and is my first and only iron gall ink. It beats all my fountain pen inks in terms of quality. It's the darkest black color I've ever seen - it looks like black soot on paper! The ink initially appears grey and watery, but becomes soot-black after 3-4 minutes. It's hard to believe that my $10 dip pen writes better than all my fountain pens. My use my dip pen for taking notes (at home) and writing letters and thank you cards. I guess I'm hooked to dip pens now and regret why I hadn't used them earlier.

Fellow in Texas, the small business owner has been wonderful to deal with. Can not speak fully about the Iron Gall Ink, need to be around in 250 years to see how it works out - long term - but frankly at least in the here and now it is indeed wonderful.

Brand new to dip pen calligraphy and this instantly became my favourite ink for small to tiny lettering. It is perfectly thin and flowing, lays down gray, and dries to a rich, sharp, black finish. The results show lovely line contrast and the upstrokes are hairlike. Love.

Tested it against a variety of solvents laying around my lab, the ink performed very well.

Works great on parchment

Amazingly black traditional oak gall ink, just like they used to sign the declaration of independence, just like William B. Travis wrote the famous letter from the Alamo with....this stuff makes a great black mark on paper, and I am thrilled to find it for sale, made here about as far as I can throw a football from our log cabin. may the sun rise gently on the maker of this wonderful old recipe ink, and may his days be many, his troubles be few and his live be jolly. I really like the consistency of this ink. It is thinner than I thought it would be (first time trying iron gall ink) but it is very easy to use and the result was better than expected.
