The best knife ever

I've used these knives since September 2018 and they are terrific. I was skeptical at first, but learned that I could cut anything. I bought some very thick steaks and like my meat medium well. I didn't have a means of cooking such thick steaks with what I have in the kitchen. I was able to easily halve (butterfly) the steaks to cook them. No effort! Buy these knives.

These are excellent steak knives. The "Swiss Made" label is now on the handle instead of the blade (see pictures). These cut so well because of their serrations. They have regular serrations, instead of "micro" serrations. I have included a picture of a competitor's tomato knife (bottom knife) to show the difference in serration style. It may seem counterintuitive, but the greater the number of serrations, the more "dull" the knife feels; you have to apply more force to make a cut. I didn't believe it either until I performed some test cuts with the knives pictured, and the Victorinox steak knife cuts almost effortlessly, while the "tomato knife" was more difficult to cut with. I was so impressed with these Victorinox steak knives that I will probably order more in the future to have some spares.

These came in a padded envolope, no box or packaging. Just tape over the cut edge. So if your looking to gift them, don’t expect much in that department. For me though, these are for our own knife block so that was fine. I have a really expensive set of German steak knives but they have a smooth cut edge and dull really quickly cutting on cermamic plates. So I thought I would try serrated edge knives and got a cheap Chinese set. Bad idea. They tore the meat and after a short time the rose wood handles shrunk a latte making them uncomfortable to hold as the handles now feel shard around the edges where the wood meets the steel. Anyway, got these in and these are crazy sharp. Scary sharp. Time will tell on longevity though. They don’t feel as nice as my German knifes, they are very light weight by comparison. But if you want a nice sharp knife and not looking to impress, these are a good buy for the money at 1/5th of what I paid for German steak knives.

Not particularly fancy or elegant but these knives get the job done very nicely. They make short work of even cuts of meat that aren't so tender. I like the rounded, blunt tips of this design as I don't see any advantage to the pointed tips most steak knives come with. As the other reviewer noted they are handy in the kitchen too for slicing smaller baked items that my normal bread knife would be too large for. Four stars because of the price only.
