Do not expect to much from it.
Book itself looks more like a Bachelor's degree work printed by some student. Paper is so thick and strange... It would take half of the volume's size if font would be smaller (and the font is the biggest I have ever seen in a book). Many of the info in the book is available in user manuals of each platforms for free. Did I really have to pay for printouts how to setup project in each software?I had bigger expectations but some info was useful.

A comprehensive book on PLCs with details about Allen-Bradley and Siemens
As a full time PLC instructor at The Automation School, I was quite impressed when I recently read through Frank's latest book, "Advanced PLC Hardware & Programming."It does a great job covering not only PLCs in general, but also the most recent iterations of Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs.The book starts with a brief overview of Frank's experience before moving on to a well written section on the history and evolution of the Programmable Logic Controller. The book then covers the basics of PLCs, including common I/O and networks, before moving on to PLC Memory and Programming languages, including the most common instructions and their uses in common routines used in industry. The book then moves on to cover the history of Allen-Bradley and Siemens, as well as their latest controllers and software.Along the way, the reader will be presented with many optional exercises, the answers to which can be found at the end of the book.In summary, If you're looking for a book to help you learn how to use PLCs, as a professional PLC instructor with 30 years of experience I can highly recommend "Advanced PLC Hardware & Programming" by Frank Lamb.PS - You may see a few different vendors selling this book, however I would recommend buying it from Amazon/Frank as the first copy I ordered from a third party never arrived and I had to request a refund and reorder it.

Lifelong Reference
This book is a must have if you ever ask yourself the question "how do I do that again". This book has served as a great reference to me, and helped me learn a couple of concepts that I had not taken into account when programming. This book serves its purpose as a great supplement to any PLC programmers reference repertoire.
