Educational & Engaging Map Skills Book!
LOVE this activity book! It’s an educational and engaging way to help children read and execute map skills by practicing cardinal directions (n,e,s,w) in a variety of ways, reading a map by using the legend, finding the quickest route, recalling where locations are in relation to one another (what is west of the lake, what borders Liberty Town), and much more. This is part of a series that starts off in Grade 1 and gradually advances (this is the 2nd of 4 books I think). The activities vary enough to keep my 7 year old interested and it’s exciting to watch her take charge of navigation when we are at a park or venue that provides map layout.

I would buy more of this series
What I liked:+clear instructions+uncluttered graphics+practice using a ruler to measure distances+compass directions+practice reading a map+practice following directions to find a place on a map+perforated pages for tear-outsWhat I would have liked:+double of each exerciseI've got two kids who can't get enough of this kind of practical knowledge, and for them, this book was awesome. They treated these workbook pages like an I Spy puzzle to solve, and they mostly worked together on them. I'm fine with that -- nothing better than when the kids teach each other things. They are ready for more.

A nice, small practice book
Good map skills practice for a second grader. I wish it had more pages per skill.

some very good lessons
Map Skills Grade 2 has some good review and quiz worthy lessons for second graders. I've used it for sub plans and homework packets.
