My 8yr old TV this was supposed to replace was much better, tech features seem kludgy / not flexible
I was replacing at 8 year old Sony XBR4. While I recognize that that TV was pretty high quality for the time, I had assumed that most any TV 8 years later would be superior by most measures. The old XBR4 tv broke, however if it was still working, I'd definitely prefer it to this new TV. However, here's where I felt very much so let down:* Contrast seems achieved by using very noticeable effects to turn down the backlight in certain vertical areas. This makes for an incredibly noticeable and uneven backlighting (when a credit screen is going by, you'll see a big light bar in the middle and very black bars on the edges of the screen). It almost seems like these choices were made to improve the TV specs with little-to-no regard for user experience* In areas where backlight seems to have not been adjusted, the contrast seems to not beat my 8 year old Sony* The glare is a lot higher and the viewing angle is much lower* I have audio go out to a receiver over optical. It seems to have noteworthy sync issues when using YouTube from the built-in applications. Its not a constant offset, it differs over time making adjusting sync impossible* Very little to no control over color / lighting with highly simplified profiles you can't adjust. Most presets are washed out / way too bright* More general comments that might apply to many tvs today: the OS itself lacks some pretty common apps I'd expect like HBO Go, there's also no support for Flash in browser to make up for this shortcoming. I'd also have hoped for support for bluetooth playback from external devices to the tv but was disappointed (despite there being bluetooth output to an external speaker). The mobile app for the TV has its own long list of problems.* Configuring the universal remote feature seems highly restricted to being used for set-top boxes rather than supporting other devices like receivers. If you use more than one device together, the universal remote functionality seems to break down.* Unclear just how much data LG is collecting on you given the microphone in the magic remote and voice agreement. They also advertise to you in your TV user interface for specific apps!

I hope to use this TV for many more years.
I got this for the 2016 Olympics. It has an excellent sharp picture for sports action. The 65 inch screen is big enough for a large room. In our family room I sit 20 feet away and it is about right. I bought it more than 3 years ago and I am still very happy with it. I have had it hooked up to Wi-fi, cable, antenna, sound bar, and blu ray player: everything works just fine. I have 3 criticisms. First, the onboard speakers are underpowered and you definitely need a sound bar or speaker system. Second, the remote could use a much more prominent MUTE button. Third, I have another system with better organized smart features: these are just Ok. Overall, great machine. I have had zero problems with it and I hope to use it for many more years. p.s. get several spare remotes.

LG Life is lousy
- most of the features for this 2016 TV require a Magic Remote- LG is selling the TV without the Magic Remote- LG refers like this: "Thank you for contacting LG Electronics. For this one, you may call one of our authorized distributors to inquire for the accessory you need and they will provide you the pricing and availability of the AN-MR650. Just inform them about the unit’s model number and the information about the part you would like to purchase and they can supply you the appropriate accessory. "- my authorized dealer does not have the required remote, and refers me back to LG, which does not list this Magic Remote on their website- Customer 'Service' at LG is slow, and this was based in the Philippines. They say they do not have this Magic Remote, and will refer the complaint (while they offer no explanation or apology).= it is incredibly awful for LG to not include its Magic Remote with the actual TV = life is lousy when the remote is not even available via their Shop LG or their authorized dealersPS: the small Easy Setup Guide has a few confusing illustrations but no text about connections. Incredibly, this so-called LG Smart TV Ultra Blah Blah does not support my wireless Sony headphones; more unreal is that LG only offers headsets for their phones.

Absolutely Massive
Did I need a 65in TV? Nope. Did I buy a 65in TV? You bet your ass I did.Obviously there's not a ton of 4k content out there, but this television's upscaling software does a good job of making sure lower resolutions still look pretty good. Under 720p looks like shit though, so there's that. Some TV stations are still just putting out SD content thats just been converted to HD before it hit the transmitter so if your favorite station is till doing that you're gonna have bad time.Plenty of ports for just about everything, great colors, and very even backlighting. I've been nothing but satisfied with this purchase. If I really wanted to nitpick it does flex if you're moving it which can be a little scary, but how often are you going to be moving a 65in TV?

Great Picture
This is a great television for the price. It has a great picture & sound - would have rated as a 5 but LG chooses not to include their best remote with a premium TV. It would be worth a few more $$ on the initial purchase.

Needed repair
It worked for about a week, then began turning itself off and on. We called LG and they sent a repairman who replaced the motherboard. That lasted for a week and failed again. Repairman came back and did it again. This time the repair seems to be working. LG is good about the warranty repair, but I would recommend the extended warranty too.

Very happy with the TV so far
Very happy with the TV so far. Just been a few weeks. Great color and I don't see any of the light bleeding I've normally seen with other TVs. It does take a bit of getting used to with how the Smart Remote works with it. Over all I'm happy.

First TV purchase in close to 20 years and boy is this an upgrade from those old CRT TVs. So far everything is working great and the picture quality is superb and the size of the screen is very impressive. Very satisfied.

A great picture for a good price
I received my LG TV about 3 days ago, so this review is a bit preliminary. I really felt the 6550 was a great deal based on the performance of the TV. I find the picture to be spectacular although not perfect. Remember this is not a 3000.00 television and should not be expected to perform like one.PROS-Awesome colors and details-4k is amazing-WEB OS is really easy to use-Set has both wifi and bluetooth connectivity-The bezel is nice and thin-The screen inst overly reflective compared to the mirror on my last SamsungCONS-Black colors are a little grey-Only 3 HDMI connectors-No HDMI connectors on the sides or bottom of unit-Power plug on the back deviated from standard, resulting in me having to fish a new power cable-VESA mount bolts do not come with the TV..I had to go to Home Depot and buy M6 machine screwsSUMMARYAll in all I am very happy with my purchase. The 65" viewing experience has been awesome and the unit has worked flawlessly since the setup. Remember this TV is all about getting the best bang for your buck and from that aspect it totally delivers.

Awesome tv! Great delivery by Amazon!
Tv is great! Picture is great and having the convenience of a smart tv is super handy. Our first time ordering a high end electronic device off amazon and couldn’t be happier with the service. Delivery was fast and they waited while we opened the box and checked that the tv was in good shape.

Not Happy
I loved the LG TV and the functionality of it. It's one of the very best UI I have ever used. I am reviewing this product after using it just over a year. Problem is that the screen has 3 lines coming from top to bottom and 2 white dots showing up on screen. Now I have to live with that. Which is painful. I don't know why it happened. But I still like my TV. I didn't buy any protection on it and now I regret it. I wish it didn't have those lines on the screen.

but picture is great, colour is great
blacks are not as crisp as they could be, but picture is great, colour is great, so far so good. Wish it came with the magic remote, but the android app works well in place of.
