This is my second update. I used the supplement a few times several years apart to regulate my period, and it worked perfectly within months, and I stayed regular for years. Here is my BEST NEWS! I'm 40 years old and was taking this to re-balance my hormones a bit. I took it for a few months, and then, my husband and I decided to get pregnant. We had to wait until we were in a good home and ready for it, and it took me way too long to meet my Mr. Right, hence me starting trying to conceive at age 40. I was a tad worried because you hear a woman's chances of conceiving are so greatly reduced at this age. Well folks, we started trying to conceive on January 6th. I must've gotten pregnant within days, and I am now joyously pregnant! So... was it the chasteberry that made me so fertile? Who can say for certain. But it may well have been! I think it's pretty spectacular! Below are my previous updates: THIS IS MY UPDATE BECAUSE SOME WOMEN SEEM CONFUSED ABOUT THIS HERB: First of all, the taste doesn't bother me. I don't know why so many people complained about the taste when I've tasted things so much worse. Sometimes it has an aftertaste so I drink a sip of water after, but I just take it straight, no problem. The ALCOHOL based version of this same product, did INDEED taste nasty, terribly bitter, so I switched to this glycerin-based, alcohol free version by the same company. I wrote this in reply to a comment a woman made, that this herb didn't work at all: You should try this herb for a minimum of 4 months before giving up on it. This is, if you do your research, known to be an extremely safe, effective, yet SLOW ACTING herb. It is not a hormone replacer. It works on the pituitary glands, to normalize your OWN hormones, your own system. It is widely used all over Europe, and has been for ages. There have been NUMEROUS studies done on this herb and it has been determined quite effective. I have used it a few times in my life, to regulate periods that were COMPLETELY out of wack, meaning, years of sporadic periods, sometimes missing 3 months at a time, never knowing when it would come. First time I used it in my 20's, when a move abroad disrupted my cycles completely and they were never the same, for a few years. It took a few months, but it worked, I was so happy when my periods normalized, because the gyno just said there was nothing wrong with me, but offered no solution. Then, again years later when I moved overseas again, I used it again and had the same wonderful effect. I also relieved PMS and bloating, and breast tenderness. Now I plan to use it again, for a different reason. I made sure to order enough to last me for several months, and I got mine as an Amazon "add on" anyway, it was only about $7 a bottle, and it used to be like, $15 when I bought it both online and in stores in NYC so I am PLEASED to get this cheap. I trust this herb, it is also used to increase fertility in women who wish to conceive, and to aid in increasing milk supply in lactating mothers. This is a wonderful herb for women and it is on my personal "tried and true" list of herbs. But it is KNOWN to take between 4 to 6 months of taking it DAILY to work. But after you take it and it works you keep taking it for a few months and then you can STOP taking it. You don't have to take it forever, just until it regulates your problem. Of course, if you get thrown out of wack again a few years later, as I did, you may want to take it again to regulate your body. NOTES: I find this product to be the best, it is the RIGHT RATIO, (in studies, you must use the right ratio) and tincture is more effective than pills or capsules, by far. I like this product because it's the "alcohol free" version, the alcohol containing one tastes awful so I use this one. Also, the product is high quality. I am SO GLAD I was able to purchase this at about half price with free shipping, with Amazon Prime, and as an "Add On" product, because you need to use it for several months anyway, so I stocked up on the product and saved a ton of money. This used to cost an arm and a leg and I still felt it was worth it. I intend to use this for 4 to 6 months, so I hope it's still discounted when I restock on it! WONDERFUL STUFF!

I've had 5 kids and after the 4th and 5th babies I had horrible postpartum depression, then my hormone (mood) swings were vicious thereafter. I went to 2 different doctors who prescribed different birth control pills. I hated how they made me feel- they shot my libido and only partially helped me feel better. They did significantly decrease my menstrual flow but that was the only perk. I knew it was hormone related because consistently I'd feel anxious, obsessive, irrational and grumpy for 2 weeks, and then I'd feel gross and bleed for another 2 weeks during a horribly heavy period. At rock bottom I did some research into herbs and started taking Vitex and Yarrow. This liquid herb does taste awful so I dropper it into empty capsules. The "00" size (also available through Amazon) will hold an entire full dropper. The liquid will dissolve the capsule within 2-3 minutes so only fill it when you're ready to swallow. I take 3 of these capsules, 3 times a day. Each bottle lasts me a week on this dosage. I noticed a significant difference in my moods after 3 weeks of use. It's the best $30/month that I spend. The Vitex drastically evens out my moods and makes it so I can function productively in the day. I can't find this brand/dosage of vitex in any health stores near me and love that Amazon has made it easy for me to get it here quickly. I tried the Gaia Vitex Elixir for women and found it didn't have enough vitex in it to do the trick for me. This is my favorite brand/mix of the vitex. Do shake it before you use the dropper. The Yarrow (same dosage) has cut the flow of my heavy periods in half. (I used to bleed out of an ultra tampon in 2 hours and now I can go 4 hours without worry.) I have read that if you take these herbs for an extended period of time, your body will learn to regulate itself and you can slowly wean yourself off the herbs. These were a life-saver and answer to prayers. The herbs work so much better than the birth control pills. As always, do your research, consult an herbalist if you can find a good one, then listen to your body after you take herbs. I hope these will work as well for you as they have for me.

I have only been taking this for a few months, so if anything changes I will update this review. I am going to write this specific to my case, so it might help some people with a similar history yet might annoy others. I was on orthotricyclene-low for years in order to control my acne, which I suspected was hormonal since skin ointments never worked, and the intense (aka horrible) menstrual cycles I would have. My period would come sporadically, often twice a month, and last for 9 or 10 days. I would get cramps that were so bad that I would have to call off of work because I would be so faint, and I have a high pain tolerance (for example, I walked to school for a week on a fractured leg before a roommate convinced me to go to the doctor). My acne was horrible too, to the point where I wouldn't go in public without makeup caked on my face, chest, and back. Like, giant gross painful red blobs everywhere. It sucked. Birth control alleviated these problems and helped a TON with my acne (it didn't go away, but became minor-normal acne instead of crazy disgusting acne). However, this year I was starting to experience some of the side effects and did not feel like myself, so I stopped it to see if that would help. After 2 months of being off of BC, I began to worry that my acne and periods would get crazy again, so I looked into herbal supplements etc. I saw that chasteberry was an option, and the other reviews on here helped me decide to give Vitex a try. So far it's been great. Periods are once a month (though still sporadic on what day they'd like to come, it's not an exact 28 days, but at least it's not 12 days, either!!) and my acne is actually better than when I was on BC. Again, I have only been on Vitex for a few months, and it could be that my hormonal system finally calmed down, but as far as I know, this works pretty well for me.

I decided to take this after researching a lot about herbs and the ones that could help me with things I am trying to fix. I have PCOS. I have irregular and anovulatory menstrual cycles. After getting off of a progesterone prescription (taken for 3 months) my doctor had put me on to induce my menstrual cycle, helping me to ovulate again was not among his top priorities, but instead trying to make it worse and blocking it by trying to get me to use it as a birth control which was not the route I wanted to take to get things going again and to ease my pcos symptoms... and told me to come back for help when I was ready to TTC. I decided I wanted to take things into my own hands before I went to a new doctor who would actually listen to me and what I wanted. I decided to go natural and try herbs. I ordered Vitex to help balance out my hormones, keep my menstrual cycles regular and on track and to induce ovulation which are 3 big things Vitex is known for. Well...... it works for me! I have been taking it for 2 cycles already. It keeps me regular and I am ovulating again, according to my basal body temperature charts! Doctors don't talk about herbs because they don't know anything about them or enough. I would suggest going to an herbalist if you are looking to go to someone with more knowledge on herbs, if you want the help from a professional when it comes to herbs. A few side effects of taking this that some women can get are hot flashes and dry mouth. I get severe dry mouth and dry throat at night and in the morning when taking the highest dose so I lowered my dose the next cycle and all is well! Remember though just because it works for some does not mean it will work for all. Everyone is different! There are many herbs out there that can do the same thing vitex does if Vitex does not work for you. See what is right for you! I highly recommend this as a start though for anyone with PCOS, menstrual issues, and for Anovulatory cycles (no ovulation).
