For those who don't believe, read on. I first purchased one of these (now I have a few) five years ago andnever looked back. They do actually work. A good friend of mine is a wine taster in France and he dismissed this gadget as nonsense when I first purchased one. Now he sees how good they are. By sucking out the excess air from the bottle, the wine is ready to be revitalised once again and tastes as fresh as the first time it was opened. It is the meeting of wine and air that activates the wine in the first place, eventually turning the wine into acidic liquid because of this interaction. By sucking out the air for storing the wine, this process is prevented. In basic terms I am able to keep wine for up to a week after opening. I really works. Even The Wine Show on tv has promoted this remarkable gadget. Don't listen to negative comments. I have a large collection of quality wines and with the alcohol levels increasing in wine by up to 15.5% in some cases, saving the wine is important, mainly because drinking a whole bottle is not advisable. Go buy and enjoy.

I had a similar one previously, which came in a set by another brand- and it broke... I ordered this one, needing a replacment, thinking it would be similar. BUT this one is miles better. Robust quality and does the job brilliantly. It feels like it will last and last. You pump the little rubber stopper on to the top (which only takes a couple of pumps actually, and the last one took loads and loads) and it clicks when its done. Voila - Brilliant.

A very useful gadget to keep your wine fresh.Admittedly, it's very rare that a bottle in my house isn't finished in one, but on the occasions that they are not, and for cooking wine, this works well.It comes with one stopper, which is equally suitable for either a cork or screw top bottle.You can buy the stoppers separately if you require more.The process is very simple. Tightly place the stopper into the top of the bottle. I find that if you moisten the stopper a little, you get a better seal.Then place the pump on top, and start to pump.After 5-15 pumps, depending on how much wine you have remaining, you will hear a click to tell you that the vacuum has been achieved.It works very well in practice.I've been using it on a bottle of Sake that I use for cooking.It's really made a difference and means I can now use the whole bottle, whereas before, I would invariably end up throwing some away as it had gone 'off'.You cannot use it on sparkling wine, as pumping air out, is the exact opposite of what you want.You can buy special sparkling wine stoppers that will help to keep the air in.Overall, this is a very reasonably priced kitchen gadget that actually works and is genuinely useful.Recommended.I hope you found this review helpful.

Was initially very sceptical but was tired of pouring out left over wine so decided to give this a try. To my surprise, the stopper was actually very good.It kept my wine for 3 days! The wine was as good as it was on the first day.The pump and stopper was very easy to use. Just as per the instructions a "click" and all done! However, this not suitable for screw cap bottle.
