Q: What are these stickers made off? These surely have a strong chemical odor, like PVC. That makes me concerned.

I have the exact same concern. We've purchase these before from a local toy store and everything was fine, but the ones purchased here have an extremely strong chemical smell. We've even left them outside overnight twice to hopefully air out the smell, but no luck?

Q: Is it possible for two children to share this toy and play on different backgrounds at the same time?

good evening avid reader-it is possible to tear the pages off carefully, I feel it would be a great project or time for group play...I feel it would give children a chance to learn to share their ideas, making opportunity to promote cooperation

Q: Would these stick to plastic airplane food tray? We're not traveling with a window seat.

I agree with Mommybug2 that it is big and cumbersome, measuring 11" x 14". Not sure what size airplane food trays are. The book opens up from the bottom so that doubles the size to 22" x 14". The "stickers" are vinyl similar to the old Colorforms. The scenes they stick to are shiny paper. Since a lot of space is needed to spread out, I wouldn't recommend taking this on an airplane.

Q: I'm curious if Melissa and Doug make a large placemat for the wall - like a giant sticker wall board?!?
