Good for puppies/non-aggressive chewers - not an edible toy as other called it
This is a long review, but I hope I am providing information that will be helpful to other consumers. Other people have stated that it is a edible toy, but that is not what it is intended to be. It is intended to be a soft chew toy for a puppy who is teething. It is much softer than other Nylabone products because it is specifically targeted towards puppies who are teething. It should not be ingested, like most (all?) chew toys should not be. I think dogs should probably only be ingesting treats and food, not toys. Just because a toy has a 'flavoring' does not mean it should be ingested, it just makes it more attractive to dogs.I have a 3 month old Sheltland Shepdog and a miniature Australian Shepherd who is about 1 year and 4 months old. I have the "Nylabone Dura Chew Giant Peanut Butter Flavored Bone Dog Chew Toy" - this toy has lasted for months for my Aussie. When we got our Sheltie I was intending to order some of the same chew toys for them when I saw this. This "Nylabone Just For Puppies Start Kit Bone Puppy Dog Chew Toys" are much softer and made for small puppy teeth. I had not realized the how soft they actually are until I gave one to my Aussie and one to my Sheltie. The Aussie devoured it in hours and had a very very upset stomach. He was vomiting and had diarrhea and was completely miserable for a solid 24 hours. My Sheltie on the other hand hardly even made a mark in the toy.My Aussie is a very aggressive chewer, to give you an idea he was able to get a large chunk off of a Regular Kong toy in about 15 minutes. He doesn't chew often, but when he is in the mood he really change do some damage to toys. I would imagine he is pretty high up there on the aggressive chewer spectrum. My Sheltie is the opposite, he wants to be chewing constantly, but he can't/doesn't do a whole lot of damage. This product is great for the Sheltie, and I now realize that the Sheltie is clearly the intended market for this product, not my Aussie and I never should have given one to him.We mainly have hard chew toys in our house because of our Aussie and these are a great alternative for the Sheltie because they are soft. We only let him chew on it alone in his crate when my Aussie cannot get a hold of it. I would be very careful allowing any aggressive chewer to get a hold of this - they will be miserable. My Aussie gets very jealous, as he loved this toy but he would just end up eating it and getting sick.I believe all of the negative reviews of this item are from people who made a similar mistake to what I did. This is not like other Nylabone products and it is targeted towards young pups with small teeth. Or, dogs who are not aggressive chewers and are not going to try to eat the toy.For people who have aggressive chewers, I have only had a handful of toys that my aggressive chewer could not destroy. All of these have lasted at least 6 months and look like they will last for years with my dog. Both of my dogs love all of these toys, but the first two are their favorites.- Nylabone Dura Chew Giant Peanut Butter Flavored Bone Dog Chew Toy - mentioned above, this is a bone (similar to this product, but slightly smaller and harder) - probably would not be good for large dogs because it is small. Although, it may come in larger sizes. This is a favorite toy for both of my dogs.- KONG Extreme Dog Toy, Black - My Aussie can break the red ones, but he has not been able to ruin a small black one. He was able to get a piece off of a medium version of this toy in a couple of days, but the small one has lasted months with no damage at all.- Nylabone Just For Puppies Ring Bone Puppy Dog Teething Chew - really hard textured star, sun and moon chain. I cannot imagine any dog getting a piece off of this toy.- Nylabone Durable Dental Dinosaur Chew Toy (Dinosaur Varies) - this is also a very hard toy. It is surprisingly heavy. The dogs love it but I have to admit we get nervous sometimes when the dogs bring this around, they have dropped it on our toes before and it hurts. It has lasted about a year.- Nylabone Nylaflex Dog Chew Toy - I can't find the exact toy I have. I grabbed it at a pet store, but it looks most similar to this. This is a softer toy, but still really durable. This one has lasted over a year with minimal damage.

Ideal for teething puppies!
My 12 week old puppy loves these! Unfortunately my 5 year old Golden loves them too & I have to stop her from breaking off pieces that could choke the little pup.

Perfect for Teething Puppies!
This Nylabone teething chew has been a lifesaver for my puppy (and my furniture)! My pup loves chewing on it, and it’s helped redirect his chewing habits away from things he shouldn’t be gnawing on. The texture is perfect for soothing his gums during teething, and the durability is impressive—it holds up well even with constant chewing.I also appreciate that it’s designed specifically for puppies, with a softer material that’s gentle on their developing teeth. The size is just right for small mouths, and the flavor seems to keep my pup interested for long periods. If you’re dealing with a teething puppy and need a safe, effective chew toy, I highly recommend this one. It’s been a game-changer for us!

Good option for teething pups or adult "average" chewers
In summary, here are my Pros and Cons:Pro: Good size for medium- to large breed pups; effective and well-accepted by teething pup (particularly the one edible bone); fairly-priced especially with free shipping; the "stages" of hardness are a good idea (white is hardest, brown is a medium-hard rubber and the tan is a fairly hard edible).Con: could do without the brown, rubber non-edible (rejected by three chewers); This trio of teething bones went over pretty well with my 10-week old AMSTAF pup. And, any of you owning one of these so-called "pit" breeds knows that they Love to CHEW! In order of preference by my pup, he started in on the white bone first. It is the hardest of the three and he likes really firm surfaces to chew which not all dogs do. The other non-edible brown bone is composed of a rubbery material. I have two of these now (purchased a single one of these a few weeks ago) and out of my three dogs, none of them are attracted to it. Don't know if they don't like the smell/ taste or what, but they all reject it. The third (tan colored) bone is a hard edible and that of course, is the pup's fave. I wish Nylabone sold a multi-pack of these because so far, it is holding up perfectly to a tough little chewer, showing only very minor wear after a couple straight hours of gnawing. Some other reviewers of Nylabone products have mentioned the bones have come apart in chunks or otherwise have not held up well. Perhaps they got a bad batch or the bones had been left outside exposed to the elements or something but in my lengthy experience with dogs and Nylabone, I've not had that problem. That being said, I also am a conscientious dog owner and after the dog is done with its chewing session, I pick these up. IMO, chewtoys such as this shouldn't be left around unsupervised anyway as they can become a dangerous choking hazard after they get chewed to a small enough size.

Puppies and adult dogs agree - 5 stars!
My puppy loves these... When she actually gets the chance to chew on them. My adult dogs are usually stealing them from her to chew on the bones themselves. They are more puppy-sized, but that doesn't stop any of the dogs from chewing on them, and surprisingly, they aren't devoured in 5 minutes, which speaks, I guess, to their durability a bit
