This sender is magnetically connected to an internal tank float. As the float moves up or down, the sender needle follows accordingly. There is no physical connection to the float itself. One wire is grounded to the tank; the other connects to a panel inside the vehicle (if so equipped from the motorhome factory).

Q: Once installed, can this sending unit be removed easily if the tank itself needs to be removed, and then reinstalled?

It could be removed but the tabs are brittle. Once on, it could break one of the tabs. There are 3 tabs that slide on and once the 3rd is on , it clicks and locks on. Its up to you if you want to take it off but my suggestion is to be very careful. I think it can be removed with care.

Does not matter which wire is grounded.. We wire to existing monitor panels used in the RV industry.. only powered when you push the button.. I have never used a fuel gauge.. pretty sure it would work.. Wouldnot recommend leaving powered up all the time.. wire in a test switch or purchase an RV monitor panel that has a lp monitoring lights.
