Update: It's been about a month of using this stuff and I've continued to have people compliment my hair on how shiny and full it looks. Not only that but I found an even easier way to use this product, by mixing a few drops into my shampoo, lathering with my silicone shampoo brush and letting it sit for a few minutes. I've tried this with both my shampoos which are from different brands, and both lathered just as well as before, smelled even better, and my hair turned out clean, residue and itch free until the next wash. I'd say ignore what people are saying about this not working for fine hair and find a way to make it work for you. For me, that's mixing with my shampoo and doing a once a week overnight treatment! I was nervous to spend money on this because I (not me, posting for a friend) have very fine hair and some of the reviews said this made their hair greasy. I did try it as a leave in, but since the primary ingredient is oil, it obviously did leave my scalp looking greasy. Then I decided to try it as another reviewer had suggested: as a pre wash. This is where this product has basically changed my life. I've had an itchy scalp with little beads of sebum ever since I can remember and no product has gotten rid of the sebum or the flaky residue always on my scalp. I've tried everything from head and shoulders to T/Gel and every salon shampoo known to man. The only one that's even come close to helping has been one from another well known haircare brand called "Hair and Scalp Detox", which is what I use with this product. I use their "Instantly Thick" conditioner, and no leave ins. Just leaving that info here so you'll know, this is what worked for me and if you use different products it might not work out as well. I apply this all over my scalp about an hour before I'm planning on showering. I'm not shy about it, and I just use my fingertips or a scalp brush to really cover every inch of my scalp like I'm shampooing. Then I pop a shower cap on and watch an episode of Mindhunter and let it sit on my head. This is because the longer salicylic acid is in contact with your skin, the better it can exfoliate the dead skin and oil. So I let it do it's job and then I hop in the shower! Now I can't vouch for everyone but for me with my shampoo, this oil actually makes it suds up even more? And my shampoo is sulfate free but does have a decent lather even by itself, it's just next level with this. I don't even wash twice, I literally just scrub my scalp, work through to my ends, and then rinse and my hair is clean. Then I apply conditioner to my mids and ends and rinse again. It's been two times and both times I've been shocked by how light, soft, and shiny my hair looks. The itch is 95% gone and I'm almost scared these results will disappear if I post this review haha, I'm not kidding when I say I cried in relief. I've been losing my hair recently because of the scratching and picking and I went 2 days without being itchy! Anyway this is my experience but everyone is different. A leave on salicylic acid treatment is probably going to be a game changer for anyone with scalp issues so I really hope more people give this a shot 😊

As a black woman in Australia with microlocs it was extremely difficult to find something that works! Decided to buy this because of reviews. After one use, no flaking!!! Still get an occasional itch but overall itching has minimised significantly.

I've used only two times and I can definitely see less flakes. In addition the itching is relieved right after the first application. But keep in mind this is an oil treatment so you hair will get oily and looking like you haven't washed it in a while. The scent is not strong and it's very easy to apply.

I’ll try to keep this short. I have (self-diagnosed) scalp psoriasis. I have a dry scalp that produces flakes, but the flakes can sometimes be oily. It’s gotten so bad recently that even taking my hair out of a ponytail produces a cloud of small flakes around my head. Recently, the build up has gotten so bad that they produce large thick scabs on my scalp that bleed when picked. Messy and painful. Truly so embarassing, as I’m a college student, and I’ve started wearing my hood in my lectures out of fear people will see any flakes in my hair!! Such a bummer on my self confidence and makes me feel so unhygienic when I’ve done everything I can to fix it. I’ve been using this in combination with the shampoo and conditioner from the same set, so I’m not sure which product is doing the work or if it’s all of them together. I should mention if you are sensitive to smell, the tea tree scent is pretty strong, but it’s a clean and natural fragrance so I don’t mind it too much. I noticed a somewhat burning sensation when using the shampoo, but it could be because my scalp was extremely sensitive as this wave of psoriasis for me has been the worst so far. It wasn’t bad or painful just something I noticed. But when rinsing there was a really nice cooling effect, and my scalp felt so light, as if I could feel the cold water going right through to my brain!! Such a relief after weeks of painful itching. The oil was very soothing afterwards and it felt nice to massage into a clean scalp! After using the shampoo I honestly didn’t feel the need to use the oil again even though it says use when needed. Most importantly !! No sign of flakes or scabs on my scalp ! These products are my new holy grail <33 I hope they can be a more long term savior rather than a temporary fix like some other products I’ve found on Amazon, but honestly the results are the absolute best I’ve had in the last year that I’ve been struggling, I am so relieved I found these products!!
