A good guide worth taking with you
In preparing for a trip to Scotland, at least four travel guides were purchased and this one appeared the most comprehensive and was the one packed for the trip. The first chapter, "Experience Scotland" and the appendix offer an overview of Scotish history and heritage along with all the practical things you wonder about prior to the trip. The guide is sectioned by area and has helpful maps for each area an major city. The introduction to each area was most helpful in listing areas worthy of spending time and the starred "Fordor's Choice" meant that it was a must-see. When on the trip, the starred sights were spectacular and worthy of the star. The where to stay and eat were interesting but not used as much since the accommodations were pre-booked and the restaurants were chosen more by what was within walking distance. Since the guide has some heft to it, sections were liberated from the binding as needed. While other guides had prettier pictures, the Fodor's guide was accurate and most useful when actually exploring beautiful Scotland.

Consistent, reliable, no-nonsense guidebook.
We have different needs and preferences when it comes to travel books. For me, Fodor's does the job exceptionally well with consistent quality information presented in a well-organized framework and written by people who live and work there. This book on Scotland is no frills good writing and is practical and educational. No color photos, which you find on the internet anyway. Good background material, helpful travel suggestions, and wise itineraries. I've been to Scotland three times and am planning another trip. I'll take Fodor's and my Michelin map of Scotland. That's it.

Good guide!
This is a good guide for a first trip to Colorado as it covers the key landmarks... the reason for 4 starts instead of 5 is that it could use better maps of each of the areas that are covered. I understand it's not meant to replace an actual map, but some of the chapters of the book don't even have a dedicated map that helps locate and situate the points of interest.

Invaluable for planning our trip to Colorado our driver even bought a copy.
I found this more useful than all of the websites I researched for our Colorado trip. Read it ahead of time and put lots of sticky notes in the pages were I saw placed I wanted to hit. We hired a driver and headed to the Rocky Mountains. Showed him where the places we wanted to visit, he later bought a copy as he found it so useful. Everything in one place and great information on the light rail and bus service.

... travel guide helped my husband and I plan an amazing two week summer vacation for our family
This travel guide helped my husband and I plan an amazing two week summer vacation for our family. We have three boys who are all under the age of ten and even with having little ones with us, there were tons of family attractions, events and museums that were listed as family friendly. Often times, we would double check the book for tips on whether an attraction was suitable for younger children and most of the places we went to, were listed in the guide as child friendly or as adults only. If something wasn't listed, we'd look up the website, which was provided in the guide, to find what we needed to know. This guide is well worth the money. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is unfamiliar with Colorado or for those who only go once or twice a year, as our family does. Even with my husband growing up in Colorado and us going there every summer for the past decade, there are always new places to check out, new restaurants, site seeing and adventures to be had. With going to Colorado, you'll never be bored. Anything you could think of to do outdoors, is basically at your fingertips.

Excellent Guide with Great Recommendations.
Excellent book about Scotland and included information on all the places we visited even the more remote areas in the Wester Ross and northern Highlands. Good restaurant reviews and provided web addresses for most of the places they recommended using. They were excellent recommendations and we're planning to return to at least one of them on our next visit to northern Scotland

Very helpful book to use when planning a trip to Colorado
We were going on a trip to Colorado, a state we had not visited previously. We thought that this book was very helpful in planning our itinerary and finding interesting things to see and good places to eat.
