Holy scorpions, Batman, this thing is bright
While I can't confirm the wavelength of the light output, it certainly is somewhere in the ultraviolet range. I was a little worried when I first turned it on as it seemed to be putting out a lot of "white" light. After doing some testing by shining it onto various surfaces, I'm convinced that the light output is primarily in the UV range. It is VERY bright and will highlight all sorts of things that fluoresce, even in a semi-well-lit room. I have one of the small UV lights that claims to be useful for finding pet urine that has 9 LEDs. Using that, the room needs to be almost completely dark in order to even get a hint that something is showing up. With this light (it has 3 LEDs) you will see things you never wanted to know about.I also like the fact that you can use either a 18650 or 26650 Li-Ion battery in this light. It comes with a plastic sleeve to adapt it for a 18650 battery. My primary purpose for buying this was not for scorpion hunting, but I suspect it would work extremely well for that. It definitely works well for finding residue from pet accidents, etc. on carpet.Edit: Today (March 31, 2017) I received an optical filter that blocks nearly all visible light but passes ultraviolet light. I tested the filter and it indeed blocks visible light. Then I shined this UV flashlight through the filter. There was a phenomenal amount of UV light that came through it. All the usual things that fluoresce under UV light lit up like crazy. I still can't confirm the wavelength of light it emits but it puts out a lot of light in the UV range.Edit: I had this flashlight in my pocket and it got turned on by accident. It apparently overheated at least one of the LEDs. That was probably due to it being on for quite a while before the battery finally drained and also being inside a pocket probably allowed more heat to build up than normal. In any case, I bought a new 365NM Lamp Holder Pill to replace the damaged one. I don't know if the total output of the damaged one was that much less than it was new but the new light is considerably brighter.

Best Yooperlite finding light ever!
The media could not be loaded. I use this light for finding Yooperlites on the shores of Lake Superior. I am including a video if you don't know what they are. The video merely compares the output of a cheaper 395nm light to the 365nm light emitted by my Uniquefire 1408 UV light. The fact that you can use a 26650 battery or 186650 battery is a bonus as I have both that I use in my Scuba diving lights. It is fairly bright and the three LEDs broadcast light a little more evenly than the Convoy S@ + filter. I own both. Actually, I own two of the Uniquefire because I really like the way it works when I'm hunting Yooperlites or showing pictures and videos of them.I have a couple videos on YouTube showing more #yooperlites and one where I am Scuba diving for them.

Great performance, less than wonderful build quality
It's hard to find a UV 365nm flashlight with substantial output, suitable for outdoor use. UV 390nm/395nm flashlights (such 51-LED and 100-LED potato-mashers) can be useful for what they do, but they don't really fill the role of 365nm illumination. This one does, and puts out a broader beam for a greater distance than other available flashlights. That makes a big difference when exploring woods or gardens for low-brightness fluorescence (not everything of interest is Day-Glo bright) in plants, lichens, or fungal growth, or spiders! - great for entertainment or scientific study. Performed noticeably better on a good quality high-drain 26650 than on a lower quality 18650. Get a good quality cell from Amazon or your local "vape" shop. Down a half star for poor build quality: mine arrived nonfunctional (I had to solder the front contact spring back in place), and the cooling fins have sharper edges than any other flashlight I have handled.

Missing parts
The lithium ion battery was not included as stated in the product description. Ridiculous! Even worse, I went to a battery store with the listed battery specs and that exact battery doesn't fit the flashlight. Amazon was trying to contact the manufacturer directly. Finally said forget it. Total clown show. Counting it as a $50 loss. Thanks a lot.

Works great in place of my IR led
I like being able to use this with my IR torch since I don't use my night vision very often. Pop this LED in and you can use it for low light walking in & out from stands. On high you can even use it with a normal scope for yote hunting if you don't have night vision. Animals do react to it but not like white light.

This thing is a UV spot light!
Very powerful UV flashlight. It uses a goofy battery cell, which you can buy on Amazon or just salvage a few from an old laptop battery. If you go the salvage route make sure you have a charger that can recharge lithium ion cells. You can see all kinds of things that make you go ewwwww or really neat things such as minerals that "glow". Scorpions light up very well....I'm talking from a good 50 feet out or more.

If only it fits.
I'm pretty sure this product would work great if it fit my flashlight. This item does not fit my XML T6.

Very bright and powerfull! Great for looking for Yooperlites!
Great UV flashlight. I love the coverage it has and has great distance. I use it for ultraviolet longwave minerals. Would be better if it came with a black uv filter. The first picture is with the Unique fire the second is with the Convoy s2. Worth the money. I also went with the 26650 battery.
