Dane-Elec 2.0 USB 32 GB Pen Drive Aqua Capless DA-ZMP-32G-CA-A1-R

I had a smaller version of it that I have used for a number of years and wanted to upgrade it so I purchased this one. I've had no issues with it, loads data quickly and has sufficient storage space for what I do. I Installed a number of Pen Drive Linux Operating systems on it and use it as a live CD.

Not recommended... I'm afraid that Dane-Elec now has two strikes against them. As per several other reviewers, it appears that they have joined the ranks of greedy mfgrs who opt to maximize profits by purchasing cheap poor quality memory devices from China, and in so doing, destroy their own reputation. In my case however, the complaint is of shoddy construction. After a mere 8 weeks on my keychain, the case self-destructed when pulling it "closed" - the keychain end detached and the usb plug and pc board with its guts then fell on the ground. Would never buy this brand again!

**UPDATE**My old 8MB Dane-Elec flash drive proved very durable (see my original review, below), but I've had a bad experience with my newer 32MB drive. The top part, to which I had attached a key ring, snapped off after only a year of use. Amazon generously replaced this drive with an identical one, which suffered the same fate after only three months. Since there's clearly a weakness in that part of the drive, I've reduced my rating to two stars. The Dane-Elec might still be a good drive if you keep it on your desk, but if you need to carry it around, especially in a way that might occasionally stress its upper portion, you may want to look elsewhere. For the past six months I've been using a SanDisk Cruzer, which--knock on wood--is doing fine so far.**ORIGINAL REVIEW**The Dane-Elec flash drives are tougher than others I have used. Their bodies are a hard rubber rather than breakable plastic, and the larger part of the case slides out to protect the USB connector securely. (The slide is an improvement over the usual cap, which can easily get lost.) I've seen test results showing that this is not the fastest drive available, but I have not found its speed to be an inconvenience. When I outgrew my old 8GB Dane-Elec drive, I decided to go for a 32GB one, mainly because I've come to appreciate its durability. In comparison, other drives now feel flimsy to me.

I bought one of these a couple of months ago and was very happy with the product, I used it daily copying and removing gigs of data at a time. Very durable and kept it on my keychain. When my daughter came into town, she really liked it so I gave it to her and decided I would buy another one to replace it. I kinda wish I hadn't, it still works and all functionality is there, but the top that slides to cover the usb male end just slips completely off and is a bit of a hassle to deal with.It's still a decent flash drive and a 32 gig thumb drive at this price is tough to beat, my issues are purely cosmetic.

While the transfer speed seems to be a bit slow (hence the four stars), it is hard to beat this much storage for the price. A great way to backup files, or transfer them from place to place.The drive itself is a little thinner and does not match the picture exactly. It is more rectangular, but has the capless USB protection end and the hole that allows you to attach it to a key ring. Overall a great product.

I have about 20 different USB drives from different manufacturers, and Dane Elec brand is recognized by more models than any other brand. I also like the slide lock - you can't lose the "cap" and it is better designed than the old sliding cap that Dane Elec had been using previously.

I used this for the first time trying to get pictures off of our external hard drive since it was being shady. It worked wonderfully! Wrote almost the entire space in almost three hours. The available space is less than I thought, but other than that it was great. Very sturdy. I love this brand!

I've used the small GBs of this brand before for years with no problem. I purchased the 16GB to use as back up. I accidentlly cut and copied everything to the stick instead of a regular copy & paste. I got busy and and didn't get back to copying it back to the orginal stick until a few days later. But when I went to do so, it was blank. Nothing there but the space was still being occupied and showing it being used. The photos were easliy recovered but the word and excel files are gone.
