Vintage Cute Flying Owl Pocket Watch, Long Chain Sweater Pendant Necklace, for Women Men Birthday Christmas Gift (Wings)

This necklace is truly adorable. My tween daughter also loved mine so much that I ordered one for her.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I first bought a pocket watch on a necklace chain last year, but the battery died recently, and I didn't have the right tools or the expertise to install a replacement battery, so I needed a replacement. This necklace-chain women's pocket watch has a very cute "owl" design! One presses the owl's "ears" together to open the wings covering the watch face, and presses the wings back together to re-cover the watch face. The knob to set the time is located at the bottom of the watch (about where the owl's tail would be); however, this watch was already ticking away at very close to the correct time when it arrived, so very little adjustment was required. I especially love necklace-chain pocket watches in the summer, as there is nearly nothing rubbing against sweaty skin to cause a rash (a much bigger problem with wristwatches!). A cute necklace-chain pocket watch like this one is sure to attract many compliments, and I will very much enjoy wearing it daily. Highly recommended!

I am a retired teacher of gifted learners, and as such have always liked “wise owls”. I wish I had seen this 25 years ago. It is charming pedant that is lovely with my many sweaters, pull-overs and cardigans. It also keeps time well. My two qualms, it doesn’t have the second markers on its face, but since I’m not a nurse, I suppose that is not a deal breaker. However, the loop that hangs from the chain is situated in a way that makes the owl twist sideways at a 90 degree angle, so I took one star away.

It’s very cute! The face is very easy to read, although it is not very large. I prefer the kind that the wearer can read by opening and turning it upward toward you. This one, when worn, if open, can be read by the person standing facing you. The wearer has to manipulate the watch to read it. If you reach down and turn it upward, you’re looking at the number 6, not 12, but the price was reasonable so I’m keeping it.

Okay, I didn't expect a lot for ten bucks, and it is a cute concept, but the eyes are wonky and it makes the owl look like he's had a few too many. It also doesn't open smoothly on both sides. One wing opens easily, the other not so easily. Finally, the actual clock is quite small and hard for older eyes to read easily. That being said, for ten bucks, it's a fun gift and well built.
