Take your Trash Can Experience to the next level by weighing it down with DISTILLED WATER
If you've ever used a steel trashcan, which are usually heavy at the base, you'll be used to step-open trashcans staying completely in place when you step on them. This is plastic, so it's much lighter than steel. This means that when the trashcan is relatively empty, it'll move around quite a bit when you step on it. This can be annoying because you then have to position it back into place, and it just feels cheap when your trash can moves around when you step on it, no matter how high-quality the can.No worries, however. You can buy a gallon of distilled water for less than a dollar the next time you visit your local grocery store and place it in the bottom of the trash can to weigh it down. Then, no matter how aggressively you step, it'll stay completely in place, and your Trash Can Experience will have been elevated from Mildly Irritating to Extremely Pleasurable.Don't worry, there will still be plenty of room once you add your gallon of distilled water; I use standard kitchen trash bags and the bottom of one of these bags rests just above the gallon of distilled water. Obviously, you don't pour the water into the can; just place the unopened gallon on its side in the bottom of the can. This trash can is High Quality and Highly Affordable. The lack of weight in the base is it's Achilles Heel, but if you employ this Powerful Distilled Water Trick for less than a buck, this baby will sing every time you open its mouth. As a bonus, if there's ever a natural disaster or some other doomsday scenario, you've taken your first step to prepping your survival stash ;)Happy Canning!

Engineering Fail
I have never been more frustrated with a garbage can!!!!!!!!!! The lid will NOT clip into place. I have used my entire body weight, a hammer, and a lot of cuss words but it will not budge. Such a terrible design! DO NOT BUY THIS (unless you're roommates with the hulk and or superman).

Excellent space saving trash can.
The media could not be loaded. I spent a while searching Amazon and in-stores for the perfect trash can that would fit properly in my small kitchen, and let me say I am thrilled with my purchase of the simplehuman 40 Liter / 10.6 Gallon Slim Kitchen Step Trash Can, Grey Plastic With Secure Slide Lock .This trash can is very aesthetically pleasing, and in my opinion, looks nicer than a stainless steel can that costs triple the price. It's easy to keep looking clean because the matte finish helps disguise smudges. The foot pedal works flawlessly and the lid closes very quietly. I use Kirkland's 13-gallon drawstring trash bags from Costco and they fit this can just fine. This is a great space saving trash can that looks stylish and modern. It appears to be made of high quality materials, and comes with a five year warranty so you know you are getting your money's worth with this purchase. Highly recommended!

Perfect trash can for a small living space
I was very reluctant paying $40 for a plastic trash can, but with the impeccable reviews, I knew I was making a good decision. I've had mine for one month now and it's been great. The step to open the lid is as reliable as it was the first day I used it and the lid closes super quietly. It's a perfect trash can for those who live in a small space. The Glad tall kitchen bags (13 gallon) fit this trash can perfectly. I am very happy with my purchase.

Soft plastic, but great customer service!
Good can until it breaks. Ours lasted 4 years. The hinge on the back is made of plastic and wears away over time. When the slot gets too big, the lid falls off whenever you try to open it. I don't see an obvious way to repair it. 3 stars.Edit: SimpleHuman replaced the lid under warranty. Easy and fast! Upgraded to 4 stars.

Stops our dogs!
This thing is pretty legit. My dogs always dig in the trash while I am at work. Today we had old leftovers in the trash, and when we can home the lid was still locked even though those dogs tried as hard as they could to get to the source of the smell (they trimmed the liner of the trash bag pretty good!). Great product!

Quick solution to snap on the lid!
To put on the lid fast, you MUST turn it upside down and hold the can at a 40 degree angle with the lid flat to the floor. Push down (one side at a time) until you here it snap on one side, then snap on the other. It will be extremely difficult to put on the lid any other way. DO NOT FORGET to hook the center piece first before you flip it over.It honestly doesn't save much space for me; I live in an apartment with very little floor space in the kitchen so mine went into a corner in the dining room. The trash can is very front heavy due to the pedal. It'll lean forward when you step on it and not stay grounded in the back. I'm a little bit concerned it'll flip over one day but it hasn't yet.I use generic 13 gallon trash bags from walmart with no problems. No need to buy brand specific bags. The lid doesn't slam down when closing. It's a very slow and soft close.

NOT SIMPLE!!
The size is nice for narrow places, which is why I purchased this trash can, in spite of the expensive price. The lid is next to impossible to attach. I wrestled with it close to 30 minutes, read the questions and answers from people as equally as frustrated as me, watched the video link provided by the company, all to no avail. Finally, I was able to hammer it on with a mallet, only then to find out that the lock/unlock mechanism is just as difficult. I'm middle aged with average strength and can't get it to work. For the high price and these difficulties, I'd give it a 1/2 star if I could

Bin Laden
I like how i can put rubbish inside it and it has a lock, you just never know when someone might try to steal it. It can also be used as a portable toilet, which is fantastic. Then you can put this in your car boot and not have to worry about your urine and poo getting splattered everywhere! It is such a great bin that the other day I took this on the commute to work with me. I casually strolled along the central line carriage after all the other passengers had left, picking up other peoples leftover metro newspapers and granola bar wrappers, just so i could use this lovely bin again. It really is that great!!

Put drop of washing up liquid on hinges before pressing down
Fab husky & malamutes proof, as others have stated putting the lid on is a git. watched the video and followed instructions, didn’t work. Put a drop of washing up liquid on each barrel to be slotted in and bam worked a treat :)The bin bag didn’t fair well but the contents still locked in the bin 🤣

A bin for those of us with no upper body strength!
A bin is a bin. Or is it??My last bin was a cylindrical one with an inner bin which had a handle for easy removal. Easy? There was nothing easy about it! It would take two of us and the strength of Hercules to remove the full bin bag which would get wedged and attach itself like a limpet onto the inner bin. And while you were sweating buckets (no pun intended) trying to pull out the bin bag, it would constantly catch on the stupid handle, which would eventually cause the bag to rip mid extraction.THIS bin however is a dream. The bin bag goes in. You fill the bin bag. You pull it out when full and discard. Repeat process. No hassle. No mess. No superhuman strength and bulging biceps required. And no ripped bin bags with contents sprayed all over the kitchen floor. Also it’s super easy to keep clean. Yes the lid is a pain to fit but you can put the bulging biceps to good use for this. Buy this bin. You won’t be disappointed!

Get it supplied from Simple human not Amazon
If the bin arrived with the lid attached it would be a 4 or 5 star review, but when its ordered through Amazon, it doesnt and the lid is pretty much impossible to attach. I ended up having to contact Simple Human who were fantastic and agreed to fix the lid. Apparently Amazon buy containers full of the bins and the bin lids bus to save £ fail to put them together - shame

No little hands getting in thereFinally - it is slim, attractive and easy to use.If your looking for a more upmarket sleek style bin, this is it.The price I paid I’d very fair for the really good quality feel and look.
