Pocket Books Perfect

Not everyone is perfect… this book is trying to convey. When Zachary Benedict abducted Julie Mathison along his escape from the prison, he fell in love with her. She was not awed by his previous high-profiled career in Hollywood and looks as well but when they kissed, she was unknowingly mesmerized till reasoning was not working. She learnt to read him like a book and know in her heart that he is innocent. But when she was forced into many possible reasons that he could be dangerous, can she turn him to the law for what he may have been convicted unjustly? The romance bloomed and when he decided that she is the one, I love the way he reacted when he saw her dressed up for their “first date” and then when he reappeared at her school to tell her that he understood everything and still loved her. His agreement to her father pre-martial abstinent to show that he is serious of marrying her was hilarious! And it touches everyone on his part for organizing the wedding by bringing in Barbara Streisand to sing the song in their wedding was so romantic!

Well, my first JM book was 'Double Standards' and I really enjoyed that, which led me to seek out other books by her. 'Perfect' is my second JM book and I must say that I found it absolutely captivating - what an imagination! I enjoyed all the tongue-in-cheek celebrity name-dropping to give it Hollywood 'authenticity', the humour, the action of the escape and so on...this is contemporary romantic FICTION at its finest. I was riveted and almost on the edge of my seat in parts. I just could not put this book down and now have to catch up on lots of undone tasks! But, it was worth it - it livened up those grey summer days with the characters and as another reviewer mentioned - there was actually a story - an exciting one. The dialogue I found very realistic and entertaining. JM's descriptions are easy to visualise and really make the actions come to life. It was such a serious theme and I was surprisingly eager to embrace the good with the bad. I now look forward to my next JM. I would recommend this book to anyone with a sense of fun and looking for a 'break' from the daily grind.
