Another Great Helly Hansen Base Layer
This men's base layer, from Helly Hansen, is designed to be like a second skin, wicking moisture away from the body and helping to keep you dry and comfortable- and it lives up to the hype! The top is of typical Helly Hansen quality. BUT- as I have found for all HH gear, it runs small (my husband is normally a Large and the X-Large is a good snug fit). It's super lightweight and breathable. Warm when standing still but breathable during activity. The top is a nice slim cut and looks good too. He is currently wearing it in the snow in Niseko Japan and it's keeping him very warm under a standard fleece. Machine washable and quick drying, so it's versatile as well.

Soft and warm
My husband loves these shirts. He wears them skiing and as an under layer in the winter. They are thin and soft. They didn’t shrink.

Feels good, nice quality, runs small
This is a pretty nice cool/dry type baselayer, especially for the price. It feels different than other shirts of this type that I've had (in a good way). These run very small so I'd recommend ordering at least one size up. For reference I'm 6'4, 225 and I typically wear an L or XL. With these I found even the XXL to be a bit small. The arm and body length were good but the neck and chest was just too tight, so I returned it.Aside from the fit I would have still given it 5 stars if it weren't for the ridged stripes along the arms. I'm not sure what, if any, purpose they server but I found them unnecessary and unsightly.

The Perfect First Layer
I perspire a lot, particularly with exercise. Long ago I learned about the virtues of polypropylene. Any cold weather activity with cotton underwear is a sentence to being cold. I have tried many brands of polypropylene first layers. They frayed, they pilled, they tore and developed holes. Then I discovered Helly Hansen. Top price, but I had been disappointed by all others. WOW. Worth every penny. Years of use of their first layer with no cotton and I am warm and dry when snow shoeing, XC skiing, snow blowing and hunting. Use a second layer of standard polyester pile, and you can do single digit temps, with vigorous exercise and still be warm and dry. This is one item that going cheep doesn't work. When you are outside, wet and cold, price doesn't matter. Go for the top on this one. HH makes them well, and they last, and they work. Very low quality and doesn't keep you worm at all
I've used this shirt for my last Ski vacation. It was a huge disappointment. This shirt doesn't keep you worm at all.Luckily I had bought some other, cheaper shirts that did the job much better.Would have returned it since I've only used it for a couple of hours but it appear I've bought it over 30 days ago and doesn't have this option anymore so I'm stuck with a $40 shirt that worth nothing!!
