I bought this because I travel to Europe frequently and my regular flat iron won't work there even with a plug adapter. This has a US plug but still works in foreign countries. I have used it in South America and Mexico as well as Europe. This is nice for traveling because it's fairly compact and comes with a pouch you can put a warm iron into. It heats up really quickly and does a great job. It is a bit annoying that it takes longer to do my hair because of the size, but it's perfect for travel.

I this to Europe last month, and it worked perfectly with my European plug adapter (no converter needed). It felt just as hot as my regular straightener. It's just big enough to straighten bangs and manage the odd kink here and there from falling asleep on wet hair, but it's not going to straighten a full head of hair, and it won't really curl long hair.
