Impressed with accuracy and build quality
I have used a Starrett 120 and use it to compare the Shonsin. I have to say, I'm impressed with the accuracy, the quality of the build, and the hefty feel of the stainless steel used. At first I thought the buttons were chrome covered plastic, but instead, they are polished aluminum, very nice. The over all quality is amazing considering the fact these are under $40.00. The case has medium thickness and it's not flimsy. The one thing I think that should be included is a date and time accuracy calibration certificate. But I don't think that is a deal breaker at $40.00 and it is maintaining its accuracy time and time again on my precision testing pieces. I treat my tools with a lot of care, and I anticipate I will be using these for a long time to come. I don't think anyone will go wrong with Shonsin at all, because these calipers rival units that cost 4 times more. Good job Shonsin!

A very useable instrument for the money
I was initially unimpressed with this tool as the battery compartment is a lousy design, but once I got past that, I like these calipers very much. The display is larger, the buttons make sense and the auto on feature is convenient. Since I work with wood as well as metal, the fractional inch readings are also useful.

Seems accurate. Battery change is tricky.
The caliper seems to work well. The initial impression when it was "turned on" and didn't was very disappointing. Turns out the battery shipped in the caliper was dead. The process of changing the battery is a little complicated with the micro sized battery cover retaining screw. Don't be anywhere cluttered where the screw will blend in to the surroundings when the screw inevitably falls out - it isn't retained after release. As for the storage case- just the cheapest piece of junk. The "hinge" is just flexible plastic, a part of the extrusion. Fortunately, I had an old case with real hinges. There should be a credit for the dead battery.

Great Build Quality
This caliper is a great value. For general use measurements, the function is very reliable. I use this caliper at home for personal projects in wood and metal. I'm very happy with this product. I wish the latches on the case were a little higher quality. The fatigue hinge on one side is already beginning to tear.

What tape measure?
Buy these. They have none of the problems that cheaper digital calipers of the past had. I've been using mine for months and have zero complaints. But then I am not a materials engineer, so those who need certain certifications with their tool will need to look elsewhere and put the duckets down. However, for the hobbyist, this tool is perfection and easily affordable. If something happened to mine, I would not hesitate to buy another.

Works as well as my $300+ calipers
The SHONSIN Absolute Scale Digital Caliper has an easy to read LCD display and it is as accurate as my $300+ "big name" digital calipers. It auto turns on when the jaws are moved, and it will either auto-off or can be turned off manually. When I put the calipers away, I leave the jaws slightly open, then turn the lock screw so that a bump to the case doesn't turn it on and waste the battery. The battery, by the way, is a common CR2032 (lithium) coin cell which has the advantage of lasting longer and not leaking like LR-44 cells do. All in all, I am 100% satisfied. Both thumbs up!

Arrived with 2 dead batteries.
Amazon just dropped this off. I tried to turn it on - nothing. Loosened the screw, took the battery out, replaced with second battery. Still would not turn on. Got out my electrical tester and both batteries were dead. By this time the screw fell off the bench, I saw it fall and I searched and searched. A few choice words later, the adjuster mechanism fell off. Fortunately my wife came out and found the screw in the carpet next to the wood floor where the screw dropped. I found a new battery, tested it and it had voltage, put it in the caliper, and the unit was on! Put the adjusting mechanism back on, tightened the screw and checked a feeling guage. It appears the the accuracy is closer to 0.1 mm than 0.01 mm. As many have said watch out for the screw!

Beats Mitutoyo
From the moment it arrived the box and case leaves much to be desired. That being said the weight of the caliper means that it’s made of top quality materials. This sure beats mitutoyo with the price and accuracy and it gives zero every time. I would definitely buy again and my friend who is a machinist is very impressed. I’m not being paid to advertise for this caliper but it’s worth saying that it’s worth every penny, thank you and God Bless.
